The neighbor to our family’s land no joke brought heavy equipment onto the back portion of my uncles parcel of land and started digging. My uncle ran out and asked him what in the world and homie said, well this is where I’m going to build my house when my brother buys this land from you. My uncle isn’t selling haha what the heck. They take their quads back there, drink back there, and the dumbest part is it’s directly behind where we shoot our guns and they know that, they can see where we shoot from from their main house. People, man…

That is some funny shIt right there! Also, so ridiculously stupid, I'd be paranoid they'd come up with some insane "true crime" scenario to try to get that land...

Indeed. I marvel at least several times a day at the overall lack of carnage on our roads. The number of people who are legit dangerously insane behind the wheel seems to grow daily...

Well, after many... MANY questions from "interested" lookers, only to have them drop off the face of the earth, I had a guy look the F4i over yesterday and say he'd like to pick it up today. We shall see, but not holding my breath!

Naturally, after he said that, I spent the next 6+ hours comparing/contrasting: XSR900/MT 09's, Street/Speed Triples, one Husky 701, and even a Kawi 900. Pretty much comes down to: buy something expensive but doesn't need a complete suspension upgrade to be "track ready", or buy something cheaper that I can upgrade as needed and end up paying close to the same amount but over a longer period of time. I try to keep in mind that most of the reviews are done by experienced riders and, while I dream of being that good, I know I'm not. Probably could take a bone stock Kawi 900 to the track and be perfectly fine in my "fast" rookie group!

Not to add to your woes and confusion but you might want to factor in a few more things. Dealer networks, aftermarket support, consumables pricing like filters and such. Husky makes a nice bike but only one dealer anywhere even remotely close to me that I'm aware of and their reputation isn't stellar so for me that would be out of the equation quickly.

Are you planning on this being a "track only" bike? Or more of an occasional track day bike?

But did you compare MT09 vs Speed Triple vs KTM 1290 Superduke?

Maybe you should get a H2R that is only track ready:boink:

So I changed the oil on the Ninja and saw that the level was a little low, but I had already used all the fresh oil I had in the garage.

I decided to top it off with Marvel Mystery Oil, thinking that it might be beneficial for the engine and its older gaskets/seals. It was a small amount, maybe like half a cup.

It wasn’t until after I had added the Mystery Oil that I began thinking about the clutch, and if the oil might affect the performance and friction of the clutch plates.

    So… bad idea or nah?

Well, rumor has it that MMO is just tranny fluid with some inert ingredients, so... sounds good to me! Seriously, though, I would think it would be okay but would run it very gently the first time out, just to be sure. Of course, I could be completely wrong here, so ymmv!

I've definitely given those factors consideration. Not too worried as I do my own maintenance, etc. and the Husky looks to be pretty easy to maintain.

It would be an "do everything" bike, with 3-4 track days a season.

Would LOVE that but would want to get new with the upgraded suspension. Biggest reason to do that? Used prices are really high and, if I'm going to overpay, why not get new, right? We shall see!

I want to ride, not die! :D

Outback Motorek changed their website around, and split it to East/West. I checked it this morning to see if they updated the East to have my upper bars in stock, which they didnt.

Then checked west, and for some reason they're in stock and cheaper shipping. So ive got some upper crash bars coming soon. Then I can figure out what fogs I want/buy a fuse block setup. :bananadance:

I think 05-07/08 had plastic tanks. Sometimes the tank would warp, making it difficult to access the airbox under it. Also read about the steering stem bearings going bad early. But not sure when.

I had an 07. Got all of my tickets on that bike  but it was super fun! CW exhaust on there too!

The Speed triple - has single sided swingarm and is 1050cc

The Street triple is 675. I think someone has one on here

    my one slice of advice...

    Do Not Settle

do not only buy a bike because it is a great deal (unless its a flip)

this is a personal for you bike right, you just sold something that was super reliable and capable, dont settle for anything less even if its only in question

its not the only way to go, come on you know first hand the grom fits most bills.

@Doc Samson needs a full size bike though... so that is the target at hand.

I have one gripe with the navi.... I actually like having the foot passthrough on a scooter :gossip:

but, the navi is great and for the price there is not a house hold in america that can not benefit from one so. no navi hate here ok!!!

I am trying to start a mini bike revolution! You should be on board with this movement! Yeah the Grom/monkey/ct125 is definitely the way to go but they are double the price. @fatfurious2 needs to hurry up and buy a Navi already, he is wasting money on gas for his 2.7 mile commute

Appreciate the info/advice! Even though I'm not looking for a Navi/Grom... yet. :D

Spoke with the Speed Triple owner last evening. Older guy (like me), said he'd be willing to bring it to me and drop the price to $4700 or so. Hasn't had a valve check yet but said all other maintenance has been kept up with.

Plan on stopping by MotoMember in Purcellville today or tomorrow to scope out the MT.

I'm thinking that, for the Speed T price, I could budget 1-2k for any upgrades/mods as needed and be plenty thrilled with 1050cc of torque. Even if I kept for only a few years, by that time, the "gently used" MT SP's should be easier to find. If I go with the MT right now, I'd need to take a loan which I really don't want to do. Have to look and see how close I am to getting the Tacoma paid off...
