No, you're not crazy. $8k is steep. If you're patient you can find a private party sale for a much better price.

Last full day before we leave for vacation. Have to work a few hours tomorrow to tie up as many loose ends as possible before our trip. Riding to Lorton, VA and loading the bike on the Amtrak Auto Train then we wake up Friday morning in Sanford, FL to head south to Key West! Below is the link for my Spotwalla page in case anyone wants to stalk us.

    https://new.spotwalla.com/trip/b41f-1a5d6fac-b699/view

This will go live at 11:00 am Thursday morning and we'll be running it until we get home on Saturday the 23rd. Plan is to stop Friday night likely around West Palm Beach to meet up with another FJR owner/friend for dinner then hit the Keys Saturday and Sunday. Begin the northbound journey Monday morning riding up the coast starting the Iron Butt Association Lighthouse Challenge in which we need to visit and photograph 60 or more lighthouses in a year by motorcycle. From Key West to just north of Virginia Beach, VA there are 23 of them so this should give us a good start.

That stuff will vary by state but here in PA the taxes will be 6% of the purchase price. Title fee is around $100 now, tags are around $50 I think. Certification fee should be part of the processing fee in my opinion. $384 processing fee is higher than Snoop Dogg on Willie Nelson's tour bus. All of that paperwork should take one our or less so their making big bucks for that service.

Thanks for the reality check! It's too bad because I really liked how the bike felt, the folks I dealt with were friendly and laid back, and I'd have loved to have given them my money...

Hope you have a "snag free" vacation!

    Thanks!

One of the issues I'm hearing about from friend still at the dealership is the lack of available product still in the pipeline. With so few units trickling in for sale the units available suddenly have more value so they can stick to their prices more so than in the past. At this time of year it makes it even tougher on a buyer because we want bikes and we want them NOW. That works against us and we end up paying for our bike lust. You'll find the right deal. Good luck with your search!

Nice! I bet the seller would take $4,500-$4,600. Either way, that is a pretty decent deal in today's market. Hope everything checks out and you're able to scoop it up.

the guy I messaged about the Zuma, he said he cant do $575. He has a couple people interested, and he is trying to get $800. Thats out of my price range for a 17 year old scooter. Looks like Ill just have to buy new :anonymous:

got a link? dont be afraid of the age, some people rather have the older two stoke zumas over the newer four stroke units
if it is structurally sound 800 isnt too far off... if you planned on keeping it long term imho
$575 would be a great price, maybe 650-750 is the real number
