LOVE the bronze color scheme since the day it came out. Looks sick!

I don't know what else you ride, but, IMHO unless your a pure tourer who plans to hit the odd fire road, these things are too damn big. Not just the GS, but any of the 1200's Tiger/Stelvio/KTM. No question these are great highway bikes.

I like the 7-900 range for this type of machine

Full disclosure - I'm like you Fulton - looking at the segment and thinking hard about it. I don't own one.

The T7 was the first bigger bike I rode that I could see myself going off road on. The Tiger 850 Sport caught my attention as well for the same, although I haven’t ridden one. Anything larger and I, personally anyway, would see it as a tourer with too high of a seat is all. That’s just me though. Lots of people like them.

Thanks all for the kind words and encouragement! I know it definitely could have been worse so feeling thankful for that. Cheesesteak is a very nice offer maybe once I’m finally home and settled :)

I'm not much if a tourer. Don't have any friends that ride so I generally go for shorter, more spirited trips. I'm getting the feeling I should steer clear of a 1200 ADV or try to make friends with more people that ride... the latter of which seems like the more complicated solution.

You're in NC and can't find ppl to ride with? That's criminal! Some of the best roads on the planet in that state. What's your poison? Sport bike? Hooligan? Bagger? Vintage custom? what part of the state are you in?

Definitely having a crew is awesome. Makes longer rides safer, in my experience you start wrenching together between rides, find some good roads. I fell in with a crew when I moved to Indy a couple years back. We've got rides going year round weather permitting.

i think a drz would be a more enjoyable compromise tbh. I took that think in more places it ever should be and it never batted an eye. Even in technical rocky terrain it still took it like a champ. My body however not as well.

I live near the triad/ Winston-Salem area. Between my 3 year old daughter, disc golf and work, I don't have a lot of excess time to seek out people to ride with. Unfortunately, my bikes spend most of their time sitting in their stall.

So you’re saying we can all come visit and each have a bike to ride with you?

Come on over! The thruxton hasn't been out in over a year. She'd appreciate you showing an interest in her.

Dad was a huge Steve McQueen fan so I inherited a soft spot for Triumphs. Even considered one before getting into V-twins.

I’m going to have to start tucking the beard in my shirt or something. Hit the highway today for an hour and a half and came back with two impossible half dreadlocks to deal with
