This thread is horrible. I've been looking at matching Honda 500's or a CBR300 to match the Rally  I really enjoy the Rally, so I'd probably go with the little CBR to be honest.

If I were starting from scratch, I would honestly probably go the CB500X route and throw Rally Raid spoked wheels and suspension on it with some Kenda big blocks and get some Halfrica Twin stickers

I haven't contributed to this thread in a while. Here's my 22 excf 500. All was great till I wrecked and broke my t12. Just a compression fracture so nothing major but pain and down time. 20220624_194744.jpg

Rode the six hours back home today and discovered a few things. Most importantly was that my speedometer is way off at highway speeds. Thought I was going 80 and was only going 75. Whoops, guess it might be getting time for new tires then.

Also stopped for the first time in 14 years to take a pic at the go cougs shed:

    C5D3740F-317F-4C71-8C32-D256DA7EFD5B.jpg

That was right after the heat started climbing into the mid nineties and started getting absolutely miserable, too hot.

Hopefully you got an early start, it hit almost 90 on this side today, I can only imagine how hot it ended up over there. I will be in Chelan next weekend and it is supposed to be pushing 100.

I thought about doing a longer ride today but opted out because it was hot and I'm a weenie plus I had some other things to get done. I am busy the next couple weeks but I think the last weekend of the month I might try to do it.

100 miles isn't anything compared to some of you guys but it will be my longest so far and on a naked with no windscreen it'll be a bit of a trek. 3 ferry trips will break it up pretty good though so shouldn't be bad at all.

I need some upgrades after todays ride.

original plan was to go to my friends wedding in Glacier NP in August 2023, then go over to San Jose where my brother is starting grad school next month. And then head back

But do you guys have humidity? If I walk outside right now in tshirt and shorts, im sweating. Its dark, 82, and 75% humidity.

I think today was 91 as the high. Was sticky, until we got to a pizza place. Small town > chains. Had unlimited homemade pizza, salad, and drinks for $7.50 per person. That was amazing. Im going back there for sure! Even if its over an hour away.

I left Mount Vernon around 8:30 and it was 67, snoqualmie pass was low 70's, luckily it didn't get hot until dipping down to the river around Vantage then the plateau heading east was just baking the rest of the way on hwy 26 to Pullman.

Normally it's a pretty dry heat. It just bakes. Outside right now is 85 w/ 10% humidity and is super pleasant, actually.

I rode through a dust devil today that was kicking massive tumbleweeds around, had to drive right through some and it was terrifying.r

I did two Iron Butt rides on a naked with no windscreen.

Yeah like @spencermarkd said, not much humidity, definitely not like I've experienced when in DC or the South. Like I said I'm mostly just a weenie, especially since we really only get weather like this a couple weeks a year.

Well shit, no backing out now. Iron butt on a naked is savage.
