With a service manual, some mostly basic tools, and patience most of that work isn't really all that tough.

I've helped do a few valve checks on FJR1300s and did the most recent one on my own. Only had to change any shims once so far and while a little nerve wracking at first it's really just a matter of taking your time and keeping track of what you're doing. If the leaking seals you're talking about are fork seals they're fairly straightforward as well but might require some specialty tools. I've done a few of those already and have acquired most of the tools my personal bike requires so I can do them as needed in the future. There are some really good FJR1300 forums and members on them often host "tech days" at their homes where several owners will gather and pool knowledge and tools then help one another with doing these types of services on each others bikes. You might want to look for something like this for your model.

I did valves ( and need to do them again this winter, ugh) on my F800. Hardest part is just weaseling the valve cover back in with out smearing the rtv and or moving the gasket. Second hardest was reconnecting the idle air actuator hoses to the throttle bodies and valve. There's a definite trick and movement to both. Otherwise it's just removing a bunch of stuff: side panels, air box/intake, SAIS, battery, battery holder, etc etc. Takes time, but none of it was really difficult if you can read a haynes manual or forum thread and can use a torque wrench.

Jake The Garden Snake had a good vid when he swapped the CBR cams into his 300L. He also showed how to adjust the valves. Not sure what CRF you have, but may be worth a watch

Your problems are you got too big of wheels. Get a dirt bike and you just stand on it :p

Well I had ordered the ergo seat for my ktm 890r and got a email today saying it was on back order. I called up and canceled the order. Don't feel like having 200$ sitting on backorder with no eta. I've looked around and can't find one that's not on back order. So gonna order the bar end sliders.
