I mean what do you do when you're at a light that says no right on red and its stuck? We sat for 5 minutes before we decided to blow one the other day. Nobody was coming, all clear and we went for it.

At that point you do exactly what you did and run it. Ps I am no expert and I don’t know how red light cameras work.

Father in law from France made it from Illinois to South Carolina on his 1988 goldwing that he bought for $1800. I must say the thing is in super nice condition! Got to go on a short ride tonight to the local beer garden. I need better lights on the Grom!

Kansas has one. I think it was passed after suggestion from both motorcycle and bicycle groups asked for it. I would guess there are groups out there with model laws that they can show a lawmaker. Or, you could look up a law from one of the states that has a red dead statute and get a meeting with your state rep and ask them about it.

    None... yet.
If traffic is light, I usually make a right and then U-turn...

Not sure wtf it's so hard to make a traffic light that actually adapts to how much traffic there is. My area seems to love keeping them on fixed timers and I've gone through more than a few because there was literally no one around...

Also, roundabouts are the real deal for keeping traffic flowing but, again, my area...

Oh wow, no right on red?

In VA, if you need to go straight or left and the red doesn't change, I believe you're supposed to wait for 3 cycles. But thats really long. I usually just wait 1 and make sure its clear

    https://www.marksandharrison.com/bl...orcycle riders,minutes (whichever is shorter).

It's being worked on in the legislature. I just wish we could lane split. Granted, this was back in 2019.....so I'm sure they'll blame WuFlu for the delay

The dead red law will allow the cyclist to go through the red light with less delay and without having to wait on a car to get in very close proximity. The other Alabama cycling law that is working its way through the Alabama legislature is known as the “Idaho stop law” since Idaho passed this legislation 35 years ago.

PA implemented the "dead red" law in 2017. I remember it going into effect but just had to look up the specifics to refresh my memory. Right turn on red has been legal for years at all intersection where it is not marked by signage calling out "no turn on red". You can legally make a left turn on red if moving from a one way street onto another one way street. Dead reed is for those intersections where sensors in the road bed do not detect lighter weight vehicles such as motorcycles and it calls for the rider to wait through "several" changes of light cycles without offering the light for you to pass through. Kind of poorly defined. Since my FJR has a clock plainly visible in the speedo I generally allow 2 minutes and when safe proceed.

There is a traffic light at the end of the exit ramp on my way to work where I must turn left. Even before the law changed making it legal I would often have to just take my chances and turn left on red or sit there all day. I generally turn left on red at that light 2-3 days out of 5.

You act like cyclists actually stop at red lights, stop signs, or literally anything.

He just hit 30k miles on it. Previous owner changed the timing belt at 27k miles.

He wanted to keep it at our house and let me ride it but we just don’t have any room for that size of bike, He headed back to Illinois today. First night he is going to camp at new river gorge National park.
