Yeah, I'll second Chucks advice of finding where it's leaking first. Fixing a float and needle or seat that isn't sealing is going to be way easier than splitting the carbs to fix a leaky o-ring on a rail.

BTW, if it is a split O-ring, they are metric O-rings. I had a friend with an older CB350/4 he was restoring for his daughter and he fought getting those fuel tubes to seal for quite some time as he kept trying to buy O-rings at Harbor Freight! If this does turn out to be what you need try a local hydraulic shop or seal supplier.

Dang makes me want to just swap to the Murray carbs. Just don’t like the 4-2 confit and the filters being blocked by the frame partially. But I’ve heard they make the bike run a lot better.

These carbs already were missing a spring(I think the choke return spring). Jerry rigged it to get it working. Should have had all new parts and ran fine for 250 miles so I’m hopping it’s just something is clogged.

    Pic just because.

When you say 4-2, are you talking 2 mufflers? Or 4-2-1 in an almost tri-y? It doesn't look like your typical tri-y, from that pic I would have guessed it was a standard 4-1.

Edit: read it again and you're talking 2 carbs feeding 4 cylinders?

Whenever I get back to working on my CB750 I want to do a 4-2-1 tri-y, cognito-moto's airbox, and drill out the carbs/throw in a jet kit. Apparently the pulses in a tri-y/4-2-1 make a HUGE improvement in scavenging compared to a 4-1 or 4-2 setup.

Only 2 carbs for the 4 cylinders. heard good things about them, just not that much of a fan of the appearance.

Huh, interesting, hadn't seen those before. Kind of makes sense? Bigger throat, twice as many pulses on each carb to keep fuel flowing through, I could see them giving some extra umph. But yeah, not a fan of how far back they sit. Bookmarked for future pondering, thanks!

Can't say I'd ever heard of or seen these before. Looks interesting but for me it looks like one of those solutions to a problem that doesn't really exist. From the factory those old Honda CB series inline 4 cylinders were pretty well sorted out and efficient. One thing that struck me right away is this, from factory these bikes came with 4 x 28 or 29mm carbs if I recall so 112-116 mm of total carb capacity. This kit gives you 2 x 34mm so only 68mm total. Now I might be thinking the wrong way and maybe these numbers don't work the way I think they do but this kit looks like it would restrict the top end pretty substantially.

I see Spencer's point about the pulses but wonder if that works as well on the intake side as it does on the exhaust side. There's certainly enough information out there about how on the exhaust side of things those alternating pulses help scavenge out that side of things but I'm not sure those same theories apply in the same capacity on the intake side. For that kind of money you should be able to get a stock rack of carbs professionally rebuilt and bench synched ready to go.

    Hey all,

13 days until track time. Can’t wait. Spent the morning putting on Speigler steel braided front lines. I actually was able to bleed the system without any problems. That never happens.

Now I wish I knew how to use my GoPro :D.
