    I blew my head gasket shortly after going big bore.
    Fortunately everything was fine and I just had to put it back together.
    Used a cometic gasket and sprayed it with that copper gasket stuff the second time around and all has been good since.

    I hear that those are a lot of fun. A guy I work with has one and he loves it. Says he can keep up with the bigger bikes, gets great mileage, and it still has enough power to scare him sometimes.

    When you weigh 150lbs soaking wet with your pockets full of bricks (which he does), a CBR500 will run all day at road speeds (or 10-15mph higher) with 600's or 650's. Liter bikes will still outrun you, but they'll outrun pretty much everything but other liter bikes or jets.
    And a 500 would still have enough power to get away from you in a tight curve.
