I agree, I wouldn't have changed it if it were up to me, but I bought it with the exhaust.

This is only $10 more than the dirty used one...

Wanted to get some opinions on a potentially bad idea but could save money?

What if I were to cut off my Two Brother's exhaust at the red line here:

And then get a universal muffler like this short one:

And attach it with a 2" butt joint clamp? It would cost less than $50 total.

Obviously its not tuned or ideal but it would work to muffle sound since you don't want to pay for an exhaust that is already complete

Saw this one in Friday Harbor, WA. Looks like a bunch of fun in a state with slower speed limits.

I personally wouldn’t. But based on the pics there are springs, so no need to cut anything. Might as well try it out then and go back if it sucks (which it probably will)

Couple of my FJR friends are running the Delkevic stuff and are extremely happy with it so far. You mentioned them earlier.

Id cut the existing pipe to get the muffler in the right position. The existing muffler is basically scrap metal at this point.

I don’t think the Delkevic will work with the center stand.

just checking in after the weekend, first and foremost, happy belated birthday @Built2Ride!

Had a great weekend of riding. Did about 200 miles on Saturday, hitting the canyons with a buddy, making our way up to a lake, then stopping for some good BBQ and pie in Julian.

Then Sunday, took the YZ out to Fox Raceway and got some dirt practice in. Discovered that my clutch adjuster is sheared off at the threads where it mounts to the handle so that's fun. Remembered to wear my chest protector this time, still crashed a bunch and was one of the slowest on the track but damn was it fun. It's hard going from purely street to dirt, since the techniques are basically opposite lol.

Unfortunately for you all, I forgot to take many pics again but here's the best I could do.

I'd suggest keeping it stock, start changing back pressure and stuff and the bike won't run the same. Unless the aftermarket exhaust has a proven performance improvement. I have a Akropovic knockoff I'd sell for a crisp $100.00. Sounded pretty good, bike ran like shit.

Are you guys using these with hearing protection in? I'm so on the fence. Love being disconnected from everything BUT my immediate environment. Don't feel the need for music per se. But GPS and group comms is a plus.

And why the packtalk over the Freecom?

As impressive as watching some skilled riders do Fins & Things on a few GS was, I wouldn't be able to come up with words if I saw someone attempt let alone pull of doing that.

I saw Chris "Teach" McNeil do a stunt show at South Sound BMW. Stunting a big GS was so impressive

Yeah, I use mine with foamies and it has no issues. Have to go up a bit louder but it still comes through nice and clear. I went packtalk because it's the newest mesh stuff vs the older style point to point connections for not much more money.

Also, went to look up what one i ordered and discovered its not $40 less than what I bought it for less than a month ago, fingers crossed Revzilla with price match me the difference!

Edit: they just refunded me $69.99! :yay:

Surprised Cardo or Sena haven't come out with a communications module that uses NFMI to transmit to electronic earplugs. I have a set of Opscore Amps with the feature and they are super handy for noise reduction except the stuff you want.

Wouldn't be at a pricepoint for everyone, but I'd spring for it as a premium product if it means I can keep my audio levels lower and still have comms+tunes..
