There are some really cool Saddlesore options that have been added to the list. There is a premade "Ride around PA" that's interesting. You must start and finish in a specific location and get dated business receipts proving the route that looks interesting. There are several food oriented rides including ice cream, BBQ, doughnut, and coffee themed rides. Full ride list below.

    https://www.ironbutt.com/themerides/index.html

Let me know if you find one you like, I'm ready and would be stupid, I mean willing enough to ride along if it we can work something out.

Let's do the Ride around PA that looks fun. It would be great if you could come along. I might need some help planning it out... looking at the map I'm wondering if I'll make it haha but want to try

I like the Type R more but yesterday I saw a black GR Corolla on white TE37s and I was reconsidering... as for the numbers, sounds like you have 18k of equity and the other 8k (39k-18k=21k vs 29k dealer is quoting) is coming from tax, title, licensing plus a mark up? I'd assume TTL to be around 10% or 4k of the cost, so the other 4-5k is probably mark up.

Maybe @VTCAL is referring to the fact that the Corolla isn't a motorcycle without realizing this thread sometimes skews more towards the "BS". :D

I've been looking at that one and would definitely be in for it. Getting a bit late in the riding season to do it this year but I'm up for next year. June is a great time for a ride like this as you have the most daylight hours available. Not sure if you've ever been on Route 6 across the northern part of PA but you need to be fully on the alert for forest rats up there.

Hm i'll have to take a look into that and see about adjusting it.

for me it depends on the bike lol. On anything high performance or cool looking, I wouldn't be able to stop myself putting on an exhaust.

But for something like my dirtbike, or a less flashy bike, I would definitely stay stock.

Side question, do you guys notice noise fatigue when you're riding? I only ever notice it once I'm off the bike.

Noise fatigue is very real. I don't wear ear plugs when commuting or on what for me are shorter rides, say under 200 miles. Any longer ride or even long hour rides with a lot of stops I'll use earplugs. Spoke with my g/f about it and last weekend when we rode about 325 miles one way to a FJR meet in another state she wore ear plugs as well. She was actually pretty shocked when we got to our hotel how much better she felt after having worn them. I actually won a set of Leo Vince slip on mufflers for my FJR and donated them back to be auctioned off at a fund raiser because I need that bike to remain as stealthy as possible for the type of riding I use it for.

Oh i definitely don't deny it's real. I'm just wondering if it's something people refer to when on the bike or only once they get off. For me it's the latter.

A pleasant rumble is nice. Ear splitting obnoxious doesn’t save lives, defensive skilled riding does :)

I'm still undecided what's worse...someone on an obnoxious supersport doing a flyby, or an obnoxious cruiser/chopper/harley. All I know is both set off the old 90's BMW Car alarm outside my window that plays 20 different sounds before turning off.

That makes sense we'll plan it for June. Don't think I've ever been up that way, and agree having the most daylight is a good idea. Plenty of time to prepare too

Ride enough miles or hours at one shot and you'll begin to notice. It's much more apparent though once you stop. Before I wised up and began wearing ear plugs on long rides there were a few occasions when I would stop for fuel or bio break and noticed my reaction times and how smooth my riding was were not up to snuff.

My RSV4 with Austin Racing exhaust was too loud. Yea it sounded amazing, but it was ridiculous. I had a 1098 with full Akra ti system and you couldn't ride behind me unless you hated your hearing. Now I prefer a quiet bike. My Hypermotard is pretty chill with the Termi slipons, and the Tuono has an Akra system which isn't nearly as loud as the Austin Racing was

Sweet! Like I need another excuse to go for a long ride...... Route 6 is a gorgeous ride on a bike. Mostly 2 lane through some towns, very scenic.

I'm going to warn you though, you might just find it addicting in a way. Suddenly the country gets smaller when you realize what you're capable of. My friend Hugh that rode up to Michigan with me for his first Iron Butt ride is now planning a trip to Colorado next summer and has drastically reduced his expected time requirements to get there.

Between getting a way quieter helmet and way quieter exhaust I am looking forward to longer rides to see if noise fatigue does affect me. I didn't really feel it on my Iron Butt ride so I'm not sure.

I use them all the time (riding motos, mowing the lawn, grinding / cutting metal etc).

While you might not notice the noise fatigue, like stated, give some ear plugs a try on a longer ride, its quite amazing how much you dont notice noise fatigue. Those linked to still allow plenty of sound to come through for situational awareness but cut out loud stuff, also are very soft so they wont hurt an ear canal when worn for lengths of time unlike a harder foam of say a shooting ear plug.

100% the Harley. At least the sport bike is there and gone in a fraction of a second rather than puttering by for six minutes

Awesome looking forward to it! I think 300 miles is the most I've done in a day, and typically I'm riding a lot of my same favorite routes. Will be fun to see more of the state and find out if I can go the distance.
