Lol perks of living in CA!

That's why I ride to commute daily lol, which CA weather thankfully permits. Can fill up 1-2x per week on the BMW for $25-50, or fill up 1-2x/week in the truck at $100-200

My commute is shorter than that but I still use the bike unless the roads here are snow covered or crap like cinders and such on them. I had a former coworker ask me once why I rode to work all the time. At that time I had a 45-50 mile round trip commute and had figured out with fuel prices at that time and the mileage gap from my bike to my truck that each day I rode to work was the equivalent of getting a $1 per hour raise.

Solid savings lol. I haven't done the math personally, but my commute alone is about 200mi per week, not considering the extra riding/driving I do when running around the county for work errands, or personal use. So I'm saving a minimum of $100/week (my truck gets piss poor mileage), so just that amount alone with a basic calculation is a $2/hr raise.

I prefer not to do any further math to consider cost of maintenance, extra insurance, tires, etc. I'm happy to quit with my math while I'm ahead :anonymous:

yeah it's costly lol. I don't really drive it at all these days unless I'm moving stuff from my work to office, or doing trips lol

All this talk of riding to work... The last couple weeks when I wake up to go to work, or when I'd be coming home from nights, it's been 33-38 degrees. :(

Though, I think I'll go home for lunch and ride the bike back to work. :bikewheelie2:

I get it. I finally invested in some heated gear several years ago and that's made a ton of difference. If I didn't have the cold weather gear I've accumulated I probably wouldn't be commuting as much.

The biggest difference-makers on my cold morning and evening commutes were two things: 1) fleece neck gaiter to stop cold from creeping in around my helmet and 2) hippo hands to keep the back of my hands from freezing. Hippo hands alone were enough to go back to my spring/fall gloves and ditch the really bulky winter gloves I had been using. They require a handguard/backbone to attach to, but are really easy to pop on and off. My first set I had Alcans and second set went to the Rogues. A little less coverage but much more mobility and easier to stand up while using.

I do hear good things about the Hippo Hands. I don't know of anyone that has them that doesn't like them in any aspect other than looks.

I had a set of those years ago. Don't know what ever happened to them.

So the mini track day was a bust. It turned out to be a 90% dirt track with jumps, with the one picture they used being on the little asphalt bit, making me think it was an asphalt track. On top of that, after I loaded up the Grom into the Pickup, the tailgate on the truck jammed and I snapped the handle trying to open it. I decided to give up and not ride despite driving 60 miles each way. I just didn't want to destroy my new race suit or the Grom by riding off road on street tires.

My friend and I might go to the Sonoma kart track in a few weeks to mess around on the Groms though.

Eh at the end of the day I had a free day and helped set up a track so could have been worse!

I'm going to visit a friend this set of days off. It'll put me close to a dealership that shows a Super Tenere in stock. Once I'm at his place to visit I'll reach out to them to see if it's still there and available to sit on. I'm worried that if I sit on it I am doomed to purchase one.....
