I'm in San Jose, California. Willing to travel 2-300 miles for the right bike.

I found one in Nevada that I like that I messaged about.

 

Ah, yeah if you're keeping the range that close then you're kinda stuck. If you expand it to 500 miles you may have better deals. According to Fortnine Colorado and Washington have friendly used markets for bikes.

You looking for a street legal bike or would a dedicated track bike work for you? There's a guy selling a KTM RC390 Cup for around $5k down here in San Diego, looks very clean. I'm considering it myself lol. Bit out of your rage, and listing says $5.9k but he's offering it up for $5300 in facebook groups. Could probably talk him down to $5k

I see tank pads, frame sliders, and a tail tidy. I think that's about as unmolested as you'd find. Plus commuter bike so it's getting regularly ridden. Not a bad option IMHO. Lowball him at $4000 and see if it sticks.

That's true. I'm just sitting on it this trip. Given the stellar reliability of the Super Tenere I think I'd rather buy one of the used ones and save $5K+ if I can. Now, if the less than stellar sales of the bike allows them to make an offer I cannot refuse..... then that's a different story.

 

RC390 is the shit for tracking or a small rip thru the mtn roads. I do love the jap bikes though in the smaller displacement category. That R3 is amazing looking for the money, I wanna ride one.
But knowing me, I would still end up with the RC390 to take to the track.

 

Ehhh only benefit for going with a dealer would be financing offers or rebates. I usually buy used or the previous years stock when the new ones roll in. Buying a bike at the end of Oct-Dec you can get some sweet deals.

Lightly used with all the add-ons you want is the way to go if ya got the flow!

 

I have absolute shit luck buying used. Every used vehicle, aside from one, has been an absolute lemon POS for me. I haven't bought used since 2005 as a result. Bikes might be a different story, and I'm leaning toward risking it because of the savings plus already having stuff like crash bars. The used bikes that are pure stock don't appeal, because they are within a couple hundred bucks of the built ones, so the value isn't there. The only way I'll go new is if one of those crazy low advertised prices is actually true. A new bike for $13K vs a used bike for the same. I doubt that the "fees" wouldn't ruin this, though.

hey to be fair mine was falling apart lol

i beat the crap out of it and rebuilt it a lot and finally got sick of it when it broke again when it was my only vehicle i could drive when i was on disability... over 6k in just repairs for the last rebuild so i was kinda sick of it lol
