Ah shit why'd you have to bring that up. That's actually a valid point...

Lol I was actually just thinking about that today on my drive into work in the truck. Thought about how much money I've dumped into it only for it to sit parked most of the time and take a backseat to the motorcycles. Then thought about what my neighbors and other drivers must think seeing my truck used as a clean commuter to/from work (exacerbated by the recent rains we got that left my truck looking even cleaner). Can you say pseudo-pavement princess? lol

I guess you either die the hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain :anonymous:

Trade in the S1K for an R1300GS. :D

Also, partzilla doesn’t have one piece of the heated grips in stock and has no ETA. :(

I can try to order the heated grips as a kit instead of in pieces as I did but it would cost an extra $50.

I just had cataract surgery last Thursday. I've been in the truck since then just b/c I was a bit leery of something hitting my eye. I have a follow-up with my doc Monday to get a new prescription......then back on the bike :D

Lol I don't think I could part with that S1K, it's a hot and heavy love affair between the two of us. Plus at 53k miles I'm more interested in seeing how long she'll last lol

unfortunate about the heated grips :( I can't remember which you were going with but here's some options for the ones I had on my last bike? also idk how much you're looking to spend but these seem reasonable.

Oof glad the surgery went well, it's wild to me how quickly eyes recover.

I'm just waiting on the call from my guy to let me know the valve service is done on my BMW lol. Praying against all odds that they're still in spec.

What are those tethers for? looks like they would be annoying to sit on.

    ADV bike is lyfe!

Also another +1 to the tenere, tubeless and spoked with everything external to the rim

I like the Koso Apollos and had them in the Versys but the ST has OEM grips that work through the factory switch gear and display so I paid extra for those.

They’re for my Helite airbag vests. They’re mainly for if anyone else wants to ride my bikes, or if for some reason I’m not wearing my vest. They keep the tethers in place without dangling near the brake oedal.

They’re also very soft and even without gear on I couldn’t feel them so with gear on I don’t think you’d notice.

I will say, it’s a lot more bearable with the heated jacket, but I still want my heated grips lol.

I wonder if I can steal the Koso’s from thee Versys for the time being…

My 701 came with tubeless spoked wheels, I think they do look best on a dual sport/ADV. Along with strength I assume they're lighter as well? I noticed they put cast wheels on the GasGas 700 SM, I'm guessing it's just to look different from the KTM and Husky versions

90% sure alloy wheels are lighter than spokes.

I wouldn’t mind a cast wheel for my bike since I’m not planning on ever taking it off road.

I like the look of those on street bikes. The only street bike I'd want with spokes is a bobber, old cafe racer, or the likes.

Its my understanding Spoked wheels can flex and thus take impacts better for offroad situations

I believe there have been a few that have installed aftermarket heated grips using the stock wiring and as soon as the ECU sees that somethings connected the option in the dash becomes available.

I believe the OEM ones come with the throttle tube as well, so installation would be a little easier. If I can yank the Kosos off the Versys though I’ll probably try those out.

Huh I always thought the spokes added strength to the wheel, so it was stiffer to take those harder hits without deforming lol

    staying tuned for more info

I think cast is stronger and stiffer because they need to be strong to hold up to high cornering forces like on sport bikes.

Spoked wheels may bend easier but they’re easier to straighten or replace spokes vs cast wheels that will just crack and leave you stranded.
