I agree, the bike is super slept on. If it weren't for you and @50Buck it definitely wouldn't have popped up on my radar!

I've been told I look mid-20's and act like a teenager so I guess it checks out.

I have the same large sticker on the same place on the same Givi box on the Tenere as well! Great minds think alike and all that. I stuck a few of the hexagons on there as well.

Real Time Industries makes reflective decals from that for specific bikes including the FJR and a bunch of BMW models. I'very used the on all of my FJRs so far.

 

I didn't get around to doing the tune up and tires on the Super Tenere - but I got a lot of other stuff done!

Went on an awesome ride on the KTM and got to use the Helite track airbag vest with my race suit, which worked pretty well. I did record it so hopefully I can edit that soon.

I also decided to make a jumper to cycle the ABS pump so I wouldn't have to fall off the bike on a gravel road. I had a few female spade connectors lying around so I just cut two down, crimped them onto a piece of wire and plugged it into the plug and it works! I'll have to take a video of it later.





Then the Aliexpress Givi S250 tool box knockoff arrived unexpectedly so I decided to tinker with that instead. Got it all mounted up:



The box fits my portable air pump, Cruz tools wrench, Knipex pliers wrench, Icon tool kit and a rope plug kit. I also stuck the key underneath my seat for easy access.

 

XT225 things. Steering stem bearing inspection and greasing. Definitely a pain as EVERYTHING is mounted to the triples and front forks (unlike the super tenere... the S10 was actually easier to do this job).

Pulled everything apart, bearings looked good everything was smooth with no seeable notching or issues. Grease was definitely there but old and somewhat dried out. Cleaned up everything and greased heavily with red-n-tacky and spun bearings randomly to help with any notching. The same special socket I had bought for the super tenere also worked for the stem nut of the xt225 so I was able to go through the torque sequence properly. @but why tho LMK when you need this socket for your tenere. Torqued back up and its smooth but there is an uber tiney SMIDGE of notchieness rather far from center but I really think the wandering "bowling ball bumpers feeling" nature is from the SKINNY 2.75in front but it was stupid cheap so.... cant complain to much. Its was worth my time to make sure everything was proper and in the end steering is properly tight, smooth and greased.

Bearing setup is interesting on the XT225. Bigger tapered bearing on the bottom and a standard small ball bearing on the top

I THINK, I might be at the point of "just ride it" with the XT225, I could keep tinkering on it (and probably will) but the major things and changes needed to get me to project grom replacement are done. Ive already put more miles on it in the last 2-3 weeks vs the prior 4 years so thats a win haha.

Come to think of it... should of probably got some fork oil and changed that out while I had forks out. Add that to the list, as well as the tenere!

It came out to ~$70 with shipping and tax, which is still like $50 cheaper than the Givi and the Givi doesn't come with mounting options (I think that's separate as well).

 

Retorquing the front steering stem nut is pretty quick and easy and wouldn't have any impact on doing the valve job or not. Lots are under torqued / loose at even your mileage. When you do change the front tire you are already half way there to pulling the forks to pull the front apart for clean / inspection / grease and torque.

 

Lights are done! Didn’t do the relay harness to clean up my terminals and add in an ignition relay, but I did at least make a little bracket for my buttons.

Really happy with the lights and how it came out, even if I did have to hack up a $40 harness.

Edit: two quick notes 1) I bent the bracket around a bit more to match the angle of the dash better and 2) thats just my DRL, again. I'll try to get some pattern pics at some point soon.

 

I brought up the valve job because it's such a big project I don't mind adding a few more things along the way.

 

Have been hating the fact I sold my 22 klx300 to my brother so I decided to buy another one . Found a 23 close by with 17 miles on it for about the same money I sold to my brother. Will be putting a deposit down on it in an hour or so and pick it up on Tuesday. Very excited as I had fun riding the Klx 300.

 

The more I ride around the xt225 I have the more I +1 a purchase like this. A smaller dual sport around town is something seriously slept on.

It's light, has suspension travel for the ebs and flows of city streets, curbs, staircases, up taller so visibility is great and comfy position to sit.

Yeah, I'm working on it. Houses that aren't drug dens start in the 9s around here now (lord knows why?), and affordable stuff with safe garages for bikes are a good commute away. Trying to figure out what my next career step is after this one, so may be a temporary gig. I'm not super stoked about living here.

I have thought about booking a ridershare rental a few times just to get 2 wheel back under me, but then the seasonal neverending rain started.

 

Look into power generation. Good money and always in fashion.

I put a deposit on this bike. I will pick it up this week. Comes with a new off-road front tire and tube , rear rack, bark busters, 2 oil changes Nothing installed. Yup 17 miles on it. He just road around his 5 acre lot. Got it for $6250 which is $250 more than what I sold my other klx300 to my brother. I am happy. Can wait to go pick it up.

What’s the limit of your desired commute? Stanwood or Arlington or somewhere would be like half an hour?
