Such an individual thing. What kind of camping are you interested in?

Really just weekend type trips. I would love to do something like the TAT, but I just don't see having the time for something like that. And I don't really think that is something I would want to do solo.

I truck camp, but would like to just motocamp some. 99% of the time, I'll just throw the bike on the carrier and bring it with. I just want options :D

Well shit, you've already got a RTT. That's easy if you've got the truck. What kind of info are you after then? Gear tips?

Stuff as if it was just me on the bike. Like what tent, sleeping bag, gear, etc. Chances are I will more than likely have my truck.....but I want to be able to just get on the bike and go if I want :D

    Ah. Ok. I follow now.

    Check out Motocampnerd.com

It's run by a guy who specifically picks stuff for running on a bike. Dork in the Road frequently has a discount code for the side in his motocamping videos. He also has gear recommendations for just that.

I've seen that store. The thread was created more to get examples from "regular" folks that have used the equipment and aren't necessarily trying to sell something. I like specific threads so that I can find info easier. I'm sure the info has been posted here....but 48K posts is way too much to search through  This is my thread for getting crazy window shopping ideas and drooling

    Ah, I follow.

Well, a Firebox is a cool little stove. Not cheap, but works really well and packs flat. A buddy has one and we've used it lots of times.

For dishes/utensils I get the cheap Ozark Trail wally world stuff. It's just as good as the name brand stuff but way less expensive.

A Nalgene bottle is great for water, and won't deform/melt or leach chemicals if you fill it with hot water. Toss that in your sleeping bag and it'll keep you warm.

Depending on temp and ground insulation, a Rumpl blanket is badass. I've slept in my RTT down to 35-40° laying on my sleeping bag and covering up with the rumpl. Kept me warm everything except the one time it got down to like 30° and I had a fever that chilled me to the point I was violently shivering in my sleep. Poor buddy bunking with me got no sleep because I was shivering so bad and he's a light sleeper.

That's all I got off the top of my head while tired. Lol

so been trying to get more info from the guy and he has no idea how the plug blew out he said it was the old owner that told him that... i asked if he could ask him how and when it was done since if it was on the highway there is a good chance the motor is locked up and at that point id be out and not interested in it.

Check inside the gas tank for rust, if it's been sitting a while it could be a mess in there.

My other thought is parts availability... I'm not familiar with that bike/generation but some parts could be getting harder to find

Even if not locked up if the owner failed to shut if off fairly quickly there still a chance the cylinder walls are scored up. Might get lucky though, liquid cooled engines are more forgiving. At very least figure the carbs will be gummed up from sitting for several years. @FreshOldTaco makes a good point about rust in the tank as well. What you can see of the body work looks decent so it may still be worth parting out and make some money.

good point as well on the gas tank. parts seem to still be available for internals and stuff like that when i looked it up.
yup and tbh if it was running when it lost oil then im not interested yes i could part it out for money but thats not something i want to do or interested in. i was more interested in trying to clean it up and making it look as good as i could but if its motor is junk im not gonna waste a two hour drive for well nothing

Engine swap? What's a decent used engine on eBay? Vintage sportbikes in good condition are becoming a bit more valuable as the years pass. Not that many survived unscathed.

The ones at wheels in motion are decently close to me (like 30mi) but ill be within ~10mi next week at some point so just LMK if you wanted me to stop by and get pics in person. Prices are DEFINITELY coming down, purchased my 2015 ES with 21k miles for 9k (aftermarket skid, trekker side cases, givi crash bars) up in Oregon because it was one of the cheapest and cleanest in October of 2022. Prices then for very similar bikes you have linked to (same year or newer with similar or less miles) were easily 3-4k+$ more than what I paid back last year. Those 2022's for under 10k are a phenomenal deal IMO.

As long as it has heated grips (forget which year they become standard... though even then heated grips are an easyish addon). Yeah even though I have an ES, I dunno that I would let it change too much of my decision after riding with it. It IS nice when going from 2 up loaded to just me, but that stated, some cranks of the preload knob on the non ES fixes that, and I HARDLY change the rebound/compression settings on the ES dash once I have found what I like.
