Assuming a regular AGM battery, you are correct. Lithium batteries usually want a special tender just for Lithium. Before purchase check what the tender comes with as most have a cable included.

 

connect these to the battery, then when you park them for winter or if you're not riding them often to keep the battery charged up, have one on my kids Go Kart

You're good with your updated stuff. I install the cables on all of my bikes but only have 2 tenders so the bike's take turns. My FJR rarely sits more than a few days though.

 

wish i was still riding that often. sold my last bike a couple years ago, now I just occasionally rip my Coleman minibike down the back road to the corner market, for a cold drink. that is my level of excitement these days.

 

We don't really get but a few super cold days a year(below 32). I just don't like to ride in rain or fog

Phil, The pictured charger (Genius 2D) is a direct mount charger, which means it will always be attached to the bike. Unless you disconnect it from the battery. Also that one is for the standard lead acid, flooded and AGM batteries. If you are going with the Noco Lithium battery.. Go with Standard, Genius 2. That will cover all batteries, plus the Lithium. Also the G2 comes with alligator clips, but you can unscrew the wire from the alligator clips and hard wire straight to the battery. the pigtail disconnects from the charger itself too.

 

Does the Genius 2 mount to the bike or do you plug it into the cord coming off the battery? I have never looked into these things....so I don't know shit about them I want simple as can be though

 

I'd also say you could get away with the 1amp charger if you're just using it for bikes. Some really small batteries (think old wet flooded honda mini batteries) can boil if you charge them too fast. I use a 1a for all my bikes and call it good then have a 5a for the cars and truck. If you have more than 1 bike, you'll need the extra pig tail, but if you just have one like Bill said you can just unscrew the alligator clamps and get a harness out of it that way.

Also of note: The X-connect isn't as useful as a standard SAE lead, but you can adapt between the two. With a standard SAE lead you can plug in heated gear, usb converters, voltmeters, etc. There's a whole ecosystem there. X-connect has some of that, but its not nearly as common.

To answer if anyone else is wondering..

No.. The charger does not mount to the bike. The pigtail disconnects from the charger. the alligator clips to the disconnect end (for the charger) is about 24 inches.

 

This will be strictly for the bike. I don't really see myself getting heated gear as we just don't have the weather for it down here. Truth be told, I should probably get one for the truck first b/c I ride the bike more

I see that Noco has a SAE connector. I assume that would work if I ever got stuff to connect to it?

That goes the opposite way, unfortunately, from bike SAE to Noco charger. SAE is a flippable connecter with no plug and receptacle (male/female) ends just the one style, which can be dangerous if you aren't keeping track of your polarity when plugging things together, but X-Connect is not and has male and female ends.

I have one and rotate between my bikes depending on which one is sitting (as well as jetski batteries). Just that one alone is ALL you would need for a bike, like stated the battery clamps that come with it are actually removable from the clamps themselves so you can install the tender lead directly on the bike. The 1amp noco tender works with all types of batteries INCLUDING lithium.

If you dont need SAE connectors for various things, then dont worry about it, like stated the tender alone is all you need for an on the bike install.
