Depending on the age it might have been the OG secret recipe Gore-Tex, too. IDK exactly when they stopped using that and started doing it like everyone else. I'd have to rewatch the video to see if that's provided or not.

    No idea what this means.....

Jacket functionality is more of a construction issue than a goretex issue. Aerostich isn't asian made crap.

I doubt Aerostich would risk ruining their reputation by switching to something inferior.

I think it's more a function of the 1 piece suit having the zipper going through the crotch area vs the 2 piece Darien. The water just runs down and collects there so having the zipper there doesn't help.

The darien jacket is long enough to cover the fly, plus darien pants have a gusset behind the crotch zipper. I've never had leaks there.

No doubt the one piece suits are more waterproof, but I'm in FL. I'd die if I had to wear a 1-piece in the summer. I don't wear the pants unless I'm going on a long trip, or it's raining.

I was thinking the 2 piece might be more waterproof since the jacket can cover the fly, which the 1 piece can't.

No. The zippers on the aerostich one-piece suits goes down the leg so it's not at the lowest spot when sitting.

I know how the zipper works... The fact that there is a zipper going through the crotch area might let water seep through the teeth of the zipper. It's not well shrouded or anything.

Thats the worst, when you can see it pooling and know it's coming and then it just seeps and your junk gets soaked and there's nothing you can do about it. Had it happen to me on a pair of riding pants while blasting across montana trying (unsuccessfully) to outrun a storm at like 6 in the morning. Absolutely miserable.

I think I'd almost prefer being equally soaked through, but the fact that it's just that area makes it worse somehow.

Lol yeah my rain gear allows for water to pool. My crotch stays dry, but being on a sport bike leaned over, the wind blows the water down my jacket, and then the wind coming over the tank blows the water up my pants underneath the jacket.

Usually not an issue unless it's really raining, but when it happens my stomach is soaked

Nicely done video. FJR is similar. The plug you need to access though is in front of the battery in the front fairing and you must remove the inner fairing panel covering the battery to get to it. It's held in a sort of rubber sleeve that has a slot and slips over a tab and is kind of a PITA to get to. For my jumper lead I just used a test wire with alligator clips on each end. There was a forum member on the FJR forums making an actual rocker switch with the correct terminal end that you could install permanently and mount somewhere more easily accessed but they've sold out and are no longer offered.

Don't need a shroud. Zippers on their one-piece suits are waterproof. Jackets and pants, no.

I mean, lets face it. People aren't going to shell out $1600 for a wet crotch.

The Glacial Lakes Motorcycle Club is putting the finishing touches on their Grand Tour for 2024. I know a couple of you either signed up this year and went mural hunting with me and a few more expressed interest. Seeing as they change it up each year it looks like this year will be points of the compass. Link to Ride Master below for anyone interested in playing or needing an excuse to ride more.

    https://rides.jasonjonas.com/

It's at the bottom left of the page under upcoming event as the rules are still being tweaked for the event. Looks like cities, towns, boroughs, townships, states, parishes, etc. with a direction in their name. Think South Dakota or West Palm Beach, Florida for example.

I'm signing up to play as I always love a good excuse to go ride somewhere. Achieving finisher status to at least earn your t-shirt is normally attainable for just about anyone and depending where you live could even be accomplished just riding on the weekends and possibly never leaving your state. I'll post more as I hear it but invite anyone interested to look into it.

I don't know what to tell you, mine leaked through my underwear (probably TMI). It's only a year old.

Thanks! The rocker switch is a great idea for your bike if the plug is hard to access. I'd probably mount that under the seat somewhere.
