Same here. Computers were a thing after I graduated. Cell phones were a brick with a car battery in a bag.
I have a gopro and still haven't figured it out, so you're ahead of the curve there. Best I can do is crappy phone vids then share to youtube.

 

I got pretty lucky with the timing of consumer video gear. In high school I had film production classes right in the middle of consumer analog to digital video transition. Shot everything on hi 8/mini dv using camcorders, but was able to import and edit digitally in final cut. College was the age of cell phone video and towards the end the first gopros started coming out. Now almost 20 years later those skills are still helping. When I got my first gopro (2014, maybe?) I was using their phone apps to do rough edits, but then later when I started filming stuff for youtube I hopped onto Davinci resolve and eventually all the stuff I learned in high school started coming back.

 

The hardest part of making vids is the editing software. Finding the right one can make it easier. What are you guys using???
I just used IMovie but want to get something better to be able to use my go pro.

Well, what is your intended purpose for a welder? and what is your budget?

If you are looking at that post on SD, then I'd assume more general, nothing fancy, good bang for the buck. I will say had that HF welder been that price when I bought the one I got I probably wouldn't of done much looking at "off brands" as 130$ is a great price and paired with good wire n prep (just as I do with mine) would yield identical results. I will say the one I got is about half the height of the HF one.

The welder I half mentioned in that post has been great, fixed / created a couple of projects over the last year, a few which have been moto related (crash bars, random brackets, front wheel chock for the trailer etc). I didn't get a chance to pull my crash bars and weld tabs for light mounts this winter break as so much other stuff was going on.

Anyways answer the questions above and we will go from there! (I'm not gonna say the welder I got yet cus those answers will dictate)

60% stiffer front or rear? As the creator of the ND4's fork mod on the OG Grom, had I not been able to do that I woulda done front forks, but on the rare chance these days I rode the grom I see how soft the rear is as well.

 

middle? lmao 60% stiffer clutch springs. For suspension I have a progressive shocks rear and racing bros springs along with higher viscosity oil.

AHHHHHH CLUTCH springs, 60% makes MUCH more sense there hahaha.... Yup did the same on my grom with a 6 bolt plate and tapped basket

I was lazy and bought an already tapped basket it was like a $20 add on and 100% worth it haha with this stiff of spring I wasn’t going to risk cracking my lifter plate fingers. I’ve seen some pics of that nightmare

 

Yeah, not a chance id rock hella stiffer springs on an unsupported lifter plate finger, just a ticking time bomb from an engineering perspective. I already had an m6 tap in my tool box to tap the stock basket but if I didnt, 20$ for a whole new basket fully tapped is well worth the money.

The stock grom springs are marginal at best IMO for the stock power output to make for a dumb easy clutch lever pull.

 

Well, today was interesting... I threw on my Bilt rain suit after work to ride to my brother's house - went all of about 10 miles in the pouring rain and the rain suit and my Aerostich both leaked and I was wet all the way through. No matter what our friend @golfindia says my Aerostich is far from waterproof. I'm going to call them tomorrow to see if I can my suit repaired. My gloves and boots were also soaked through.

Also, I hit some standing water on the highway at 65+ mph and crapped myself. Bike handled it great, though.

 

I'm even lazier and am running a 3 bolt basket with the 60% springs and have been beating on the Grom like it owes me money and haven't had any issues yet.

 

I never realized there was that much riding areas down that way Mike. I knew alot of it being wooded areas but not riding wise. I've worked down in that area for the past 2 years and always scoped out the woods beyond the road wondering if there was trails back there.

 

Endless miles of trails constantly being cut and maintained by clubs. I really should join one.

 

Not sure how far from this area it would be but have you ever visited the Carranza Memorial in the Pine Barrens? Really interesting tidbit of history there and worth a visit.

 

Literally been all around and past it but never stopped. Might be worth stopping next time I'm out with the kiddo exploring.

 

Definitely stop and show it to your kid. Really fascinating story considering the time it all took place. It was a bonus on a rally but I went to visit it at a later date. The paved road in was brutal 2-up on the FJR. I know her ass came off the seat more than once.

 

Well what the heck. It’s $38 for the tapped pressure plate for the 4-speed.

No riding for me today, been pouring rain all morning. Should clear up by tomorrow though.

I've been trying to rack my brain all morning, I set an appointment a couple weeks ago for some work to be done on my truck but can only remember 1 of the 2 things needed...this is gonna drive me nuts until I figure it out lol.
