Since I was digging into the CB500X i wondered about the spoke thing. It seems it's been a non-issue. Read about a place in South America that has a whole fleet of them and they've never had a failure. And they said folks have broken plenty on the bikes abusing them. But never a rim.

just a couple of things tbh
for me its performance aspect its an adventure bike meant to hit some trails and with a forge wheel you run the risk of cracking it. spokes have more give

I'm sure the rims will be fine. It's a "looks" thing. I would have bought a CB500X if they had spoked wheels.....but I didn't want to spend $1500 or more on Rally Raid wheels for looks.

Ughhhhhh Partzilla/Honda whyyyyyy. Bought XR150L handguards to put on the ADV Grom on Dec. 19th. At the time it was ships in 2-3 days, then that got pushed to Dec 26th, then January 6th, and now it's OCTOBER. 200-210 days. What the hell, Honda.

That's the marketing push but, as previously stated, Ride Adventures has put thousand upon thousands of off road/trail miles on the CB500X bikes and NEVER broke a wheel. They've had an engine get cracked, but not a wheel.

Yeah... the heated grips I ordered early December from Partzilla have been back ordered for a while now. I also still haven't gotten the KTM crash bars for the RC.

    These back orders are ridiculous.

Oh dang! Nevermind, the parts came back in stock on the 2nd and Partzilla shipped them out and they're out for delivery today!

I'm glad they actually tell me it's backordered, I guess, just frustrating it changed after I ordered it. I stopped using Babbitt's because I could never tell when something was in stock or not, at least now *normally* through partzilla I have a good idea of if they have it or not. This is the first time they've changed it on me post-order in the half a dozen or so I've done through them.

Yeah, that happened to me too, the date kept changing after I ordered it, but I can't blame Partzilla.

AOMC.MX showed they had a part in stock and then told me it was back ordered after I ordered, which is worse to me. I canceled that order ASAP.

    Another update to this saga....

since they had the flashed ECU already, I wondered if they might have done more. reached out to my shop and inquired....turns out they pretty much did the full package I purchased, but absolutely butchered it and also cheaped out.

    Actual Package:
Flashed ECU, velocity stack, modified airbox cover, proper full system exhaust by a name brand, high flow air filter, and AIS block off plates.

What was done to the R3:
Flashed ECU, velocity stack but replaced the wrong stack in the airbox, butchered the actual airbox, K&N air filter, budget ebay special exhaust, and capped the AIS but not a proper block off plate.

Luckily Norton is happily refunding me most of the cost of the ECU flash portion, and just charging $60 for an updated flash.

pic of the butchered airbox as well as the red velocity stack installed in the wrong spot...lmao. Guess I'm learning my lesson about buying a clapped out bike on the cheap.

thats good but there is a reason spoke wheels are on offroad bikes they will perform better and have less risk of breaking

All good! Just got the grips delivered today.

I also got my Iron Butt Ride certification! I was wondering when it would show up.

Yeah 100% a cost thing, honda is a penny pinching company for sure, also that casting / rim style is used on a LOT of their bikes.

That stated, I wouldnt mind cast rims on my tenere, just one less thing to deal with on a bike that lives most of its life on the street.

Suspension upgrades are some of the best things you can do to ANY bike! NICE

Pretty sure the risk has been proven to be negligible to zero, though.
