You're giving it a great second life though - gonna be a really fun track bike!

This is a good watch, Ari Henning fast as hell on a CBR300R.

"To cover Chuckwalla’s 2.7 miles and 17 turns Ari averaged 81 mph, just 11 mph slower than a stock CBR300’s outright top speed of 92 mph. And, of the less-than two minutes it took to do the lap, the bike was wide open for one minute eleven seconds, or 60 percent of the lap"

Absolutely, I'm so impatient and can't wait for it to be ready haha. Really wish Ohlins would provide some sort of update....

Sheesh he's fast. If it wasn't for the timer and map in the corner I would think that video was sped up lol. Chuckwalla may end up being my first track day of the year as well, depending when the bike gets done.

I think it's just the use case. The cast seem to have proven themselves to take plenty of abuse. Whereas a dirtbike would probably shatter a cast wheel if used in what would be considered normal terrain for a dirtbike. CB500X/NX500 isn't expected to fly 40 feet through the air and land on a rock. I'm sure the spoked wheel would be better, but the increase in price would be noticeable, but the performance difference wouldn't be. As mentioned above, they had a cracked engine case, probably because the CB500X uses it as a stressed member. Don't usually do that on a dirtbike, unless it's a pit bike.

If we both really get into track days this year, I'd be so down to meet up for one at like Buttonwillow or something... I can't wait to get out this year.

    Very down for that idea.

I'm definitely planning to do at least 5 track days this year, purchased a 5 day package via 2wheeltrack days. They unfortunately don't hit Buttonwillow, just Chuckwalla and Big Willow/Streets of Willow, but I'm definitely open to branching out and doing a TW track day. Maybe we can recruit @nd4spdbh too

Installed a Barker full exhaust, EHS tuner and the larger fuel tank I bought off EBay. Is the Chinese knock off IMS. Everything went together just fine with 0 leaks. As soon as the weather clears a bit I will take it out.

I’ll do Chucky, I want to do it CCW for a while so I can get more comfortable with crash hill(turn 9)

The last time I was there someone literally went off and ended up out in the desert, like wayyyyyyy out in the desert. I have no clue what happened to the guy, a helicopter did come for him.

I can def keep you posted when I schedule my track day there. They have a February 23 and March 22 date scheduled, not sure which yet as it'll depend on how weather's looking and when my R3 is done.

Sheesh that must have been a hell of a crash.

Always been interested in a track day but have never done it.

I'd have no problem tracking the super tenere. What kinda gear requirements do they have? I have a set of leather pants, street riding boots (tall), a textile jacket but with full CE armor.

DorkInTheRoad has a few great videos on this. See also: Bikepacking.com. If you can live off of a pedal bike, you can easily live off a moto. Have good but not dense articles, how-tos, etc.

Personally, highly recommend the REI camp chair; folds up small and weighs very little, but VERY comfy: https://www.rei.com/product/164383/rei-co-op-flexlite-camp-boss-chair?sku=1643830002

For a stove, I like the below Stanley mug with a small fuel can, MSR Pocket Rocket, jetboil feet and sponge inside. About as expensive as a jetboil but gets you a more multipurpose container.

    Nesting stuff is nice.

That stated, you can get essentially the same exact chair for 1/3rd the cost or less
