So, I am 5' 5" and I have a 2018 cb500x. It's what I learned on and am still riding. I can not flat foot it at all, even with my riding boots.

Never had an issue with being height challenged on this bike.

Edit: just be aware of the camber of the road when approaching stops..

I will second the vibes above 65 mph....feel it all the way up to yer head...but I don't find myself on highways since most of the road I live around are much slower paced.

Thats a nice looking bike tho!

It was a downright balmy 58 degrees here today, working late thursday and friday so flexed this afternoon and got the Grom out for a ride around town with some pictures thrown in.

It’s crazy how comfortable they are to ride and then you see somebody else riding one and you can’t help but laugh.

He needs the 50th Anniversary edition. Comes in both 250 and 450 flavor.

yuup new dirt bikes are sick but the cost of them is just stupid... the fact you can get a new dirtbike at the same cost of a street bike is a bit nuts to me when its only able to be on the dirt!

I'd really like a Honda CRF 300l, while my vehicle budget is empty for awhile, I still look. Used prices are higher than new, it's absolutely insane

Higher than new, or higher than msrp? Two different things I've learned. If it's not older and run out a bit most want to get back at least MSRP, if not some of the fees and taxes.

Most of them are higher than MSRP, I haven't checked what actual new prices are, but I'd never pay more than MSRP for anything. Trying to get back taxes is ridiculous, because you're going to have to pay them too when you transfer the title. My point is, new dirt bike prices are ridiculous, but they're better than used dirt bike prices. Guys asking 4200 for a clapped out old xr250 when you can go buy a new bike with a warranty for a thousand dollars more

Oh, I'm not arguing. Just asking what you're seeing. Everyone "knows what they got" these days.

Yup. Even on a lower demand bike like what I'm hunting, people and dealerships seem to think that their mods make the bike not lose value. Then there is the fact that lots of bikes just seem to have a price they eventually drop to but never really go below without having problems. The CB500X seems to hold pretty solid around $4500-$5000 so long as it's not thrashed. The Super Tenere seems to generally sit around the $9000-$10,000 mark once it's around 10K or more miles, with the rare ones going below that while still being in good shape.

The only ST I see go sub $10K (by more than a little bit) are ones that are either damaged, completely stock and 2000 miles away, or have enough mileage I worry the maintenance might have been lax. Most appear to be at dealerships, too.

There is one ST in Miami, Florida for a good price, but that's a looooooong way to go get a bike. It's got 21K miles, but it's only $6500. Next cheapest one is in Oregon, nice yellow one from 2016, but has road rash on it. Also 17K miles and $8370.

Then it's a bunch of bikes around $9-$10K with mileage varying from 10K to 24K, and most are stock or have the crappy givi bars.

The one bike that is less than a thousand miles away and has some of farkles I'd want is right at $10K, but it's got 22K miles. Plus it looks like the previous owner cut a chunk out of the Altrider skid plate so they didn't have to remove it to take off the oil filter. That, the mileage, and the fact that it'll cost me a lot of fuel to get it makes me hold back.

Then there's always the new option, which is always my preference because I seem to get lemons if I buy used stuff. Lowest advertised price on a new one I see right now is $12,999. Sounds good, but don't know how much dealer asshattery is involved that will suddenly make that $13K jump to $17K. Were I ready to buy I'd be reaching out to these places and checking what true pricing is, but I'm hoping come summer time that used one with the farkles will come down in price. Not sure I can spend that much on a used one when less money can get me a bike with half the mileage.

As I began researching the CB500X, I saw most of the latest iteration (2022-2023) were selling used at MSRP, or just over. I thought that was nuts. But after looking at some new sales prices, you're looking at MSRP +400 Destination, +200 Freight, +150 (or 200) doc fee before even getting to registration and sales tax. That's $8,049 or $8,099 before tax for an MSRP of $7,299. That's 10-11% of MSRP in Fees. Looking at how hard to find these bikes are, paying $7300 (plus reg/tax) for a 1 or 2 year old unit in good condition sounds like a win in the current market.

Morning guys. Hope we're all having a great day.

Had an interesting ride into work this morning...mostly uneventful except for one black Tacoma that tried to swerve into me twice while I was lane splitting through traffic. At first I thought he was trying to change lanes, so I slowed to give him the space to do so. After a few secs, realized he wasn't, and there was space for me to give him a wide berth as I went past. Noticed he tried the same shit again. Kept on moving and flipped him the bird.

Usually people make space for me lol. That's a first.

Yeah, I traded a SxS for mine, so taxes weren't part of it and the price out the door was $7990 IIRC. I hate that the MSRP separates the setup and shipping and such. It comes of like they are trying to pull a fast one because it's a sudden hike in price over what is advertised.
