I can't tell you how many times people ask what their weight is in pounds(we have to use kg). I can give them a ballpark figure, but just b/c I get sick of hearing it......I tell them "It's that number times 2.2". They always say "Well, what's that?". "I don't know, but the phone in your hand can figure it out"

 

I wasn't aware I could take it to any authorized ktm dealer. Thought I had to bring the bike back to the dealer I bought the bike from. I made sure when I bought the bike to get a extended warranty on it. 60 months and it covers pretty much everything.

 

Are you using factory warranty? or extended warranty? and was it offered through KTM or through the specific dealer if you didn't buy from an actual KTM dealer but a certified one?

If it's factory or a KTM extended warranty, you should be able to take it to any certified dealer. If you're using an extended warranty offered by the dealer, I believe you would have to go back to them. Or maybe a sister dealership would be allowable, but you'd have to ask them about it.

Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. That's always been my experience and understanding of it.

 

I had a guy look directly at me get in his car back out of his driveway and almost sandwiches me between me and my work truck. I moved at the last second and sure enough backed right into the side of my work truck. I was parked across the street and at an angle from his driveway. People don't pay attention for shit.

 

I'll have to take a look at my paper work again to be sure. So I can't confirm any of these details right now. Currently at work so that's going to have to wait till tomorrow.

Lol...curious on your feedback on that Scout camper? I remember looking at those but the excessive height and weight turned me off, since my truck is already a tall and heavy pig. They seem great inside though.

 

Wife and I love it. most of the weight is down low, so it's not that bad. I thought I'd be buying a sway bar for the rear, but it's been fine with just my Deavers. As for weight overall... my truck is ungodly heavy. Prolly one of the top 2 or 3 heaviest Taco's i've seen in here. It's not the Scout's fault though, I'm already near GVWR without the camper, lol.

 

I had to turn around on a trail once. The trail was fine, but just past this picture it got off camber. Nothing bad, but it leaned the camper so far over I was gonna hit the trees lining the trail. I backed out and took this pic before turning around. Other end of the trail had such low hanging branches I gave up, too. (was a loop).

 

nice lol. yeah my truck with the GFC is just a hair under GVWR...once it's loaded up with more people or camping gear it's definitely over.

Would it really sleep 4 as advertised or is that a sardine can if you try to squeeze that many?

 

Sardines. If you arrange the cushions in an L shape you might be able to pull off fitting two small children. One teenager could sleep on the dinette though. I'm just under 5'6" and can just lay flat on the dinette. There's another 3 inches there if I took the cushion out at my feet. For 2 people, it's great.

I'm sure there's a ton of them on there, lol. It's pretty roomy for fitting on the back of a shortbed Taco.

I gave up some seating space to make room for my giant fridge, but it works for us. We've made a few lil mods, like installing a propane cooktop in the counter, and permanently setting up the dinette as sort of a couch so we'd have permanent storage under it. Can take a scan through the Scout Yoho thread I started. My Build thread also has a few pics of it, prolly starting at the bottom of page 8.

Part of the reason we want motos is so we can tow them behind us to campgrounds and such, and then just ride from there.

I totally get the weight thing. Some people make the smart decision to follow that payload number. I've just slowly gone up and up and the truck hasn't had any issues. The plan is actually to order an F450 next year (after we buy motos), and let the Taco go back to being more of a toy.

 

idk about a ford... i had a new ranger and it lasted 22k miles before the trans failed.... but the idea of a tow pig is a great idea

 

My family has had to lemon law two vehicles. One GM, one Ford. Received replacements for each, they never had an issue. One was kept for about 20 years, the other is my sister's Raptor that is now 11 years old. Figure as long as I get a good warranty, I'm not gonna stress about it. I just mainly lean towards f450 as it's the only OVER 350/3500 you can get without dealing with commercial insurance policies. Original plan was Ram 5500, but after researching we found they can be EXPENSIVE to insure.

The 450 should leave us 100% open to whatever we might want down the line. I'll just throw the Scout in at first. Can tow toys, or even my taco on my flatbed til we find our next camper. But no hurry on that. We just, as you said, need a tow pig. Something I won't be a ton over payload in
