so went to another dealer to get more info on the ninja 500 and when it will come into a dealer. both dealers have said end of this month to next month! the dealer i went to today was kinda annoying... they were trying to get me to put money down thinking i wouldnt get one.. like first i wanna see if its more comfy then a cbr500r so no i wont be putting money down. then get told they already have a lot of people reserving them... like sure guys i can 10000% see people reserving a 500.. so ill most likely end up getting a bike from the dealer i went to yesterday only downside was one of the sales people they have is a biiit on the spectrum (which isnt the issue..) and told me i dont look very knowledgable about cars and bikes.... but then asked for advice on his car like tf?

Yeah, like, Jakethegardensnake took his rally across 4 states in a day and a half or something like that, but that just sounds truly miserable. Could it do it? Sure. Maybe I just am not cut out for the lightweight adv category haha

I've found dealerships to have a weird dichotomy where they both 1) need your business and 2) treat you like they don't lol

As for the deposit...I wouldn't be too bothered putting one down if it was refundable. Did that for the XSR when i was first looking at bikes, ended up buying used and got my money back from the dealership. Of course assuming you have the liquid funds to spare for a month or two.

the dealer seemed fine when talking with mike and the other older techs and sales guys this kid was just annoying..

see i dont care if the first bunch get bought im in no rush haha also trying to determine do i want a trail bike to hit more trails or a street bike... im starting to lean more towards dirt since i want to get out as much as possible this year and i dont wanna destroy my klx... so thinking about going and picking up that yz125x and getting the enduro kit and using it for trails and getting my skills up.

can't go wrong with the 125 lol.

i'm actually looking at maybe doing an enduro/mx class or something to build my dirt skills since those are sorely lacking compared to street and thus a bit intimidating to get out there.

ya ive been wanting to do those classes but again the klx is heavy and not the best at it while a 125x weighs 210lbs! and is snappy and fun so i can build my confidence offroad which is where i want to spend more of my time anyways

yeah idk if I'd wanna put your KLX through much more than a supermoto class or something, though IDK what you've done to it so maybe?

I know my first dirt venture with the YZ250F, the guy who came with me was on a KLX300 and it seemed to do pretty well, though that was a trail ride so not really any jumps to handle
yeah if if we had tighter technical trails out here I probably would have gone with a 125 but I wanted something that I could take out to the desert and have some fun with too.

so my klx400 is a drz400 so its different then a normal klx300 so heavier and more old lol. i would do a sm class buuuuut that dont exist here sadly haha. i do still need to rebuild the suspension since its tired but ill do that sometime this year. overall the bike is modified but nothing like in the motor area thats all stock lol (unless you count a top end rebuild after it went boom then its not stock lol)

how is the 250f on trails? i know its geared different then the x model with it being more setup for track use.

ya i dont have a desert lol its all tight trails or rocks and such

ahh okay I wasn't sure which model yours was but that makes sense.

250 ain't bad on trails, I haven't had a chance to take it to the desert where it'll really be wrung out but on the couple more normal trails we have, it handled em well. Biggest issue really was the choppy throttle, the YZ is so snappy compared to a bike like the DRZ or KLX300 which i got to ride at the supermoto class I took. That's why i whiskey throttled so hard the first time out and smashed my chest lol. Didn't have nearly enough of a feel for the throttle, and basically the polar opposite to how the my streetbike responds to throttle lmao

Other than that, it handled pretty great. Granted, I don't really have much to compare it to lol

haha ya thats what i had been hearing about the f model. its a very snappy bike since its meant to be on a track while the x model has different gears so it can tractor over stuff. also damn man becareful with that throttle lmao

yeah you can definitely tell it's built for the track haha. X model would definitely be better if I was gonna prioritize trails, but where I am, track and trails are virtually the same distance, and being able to crash without being in the middle of the boonies is nice sometimes lol. Especially since I have 0 friends who ride dirt, save one who just broke his collarbone

Luckily haven't whiskey throttled since...that first time was just the perfect storm. Going uphill on the trail, fresh to the bike, hit a deep rut, and into the ground i went lol

I don't think there were any classes for motorcycles back when I was learning(if so, I never knew). It was all learned by trial and error  It would have been nice to learn things with an experienced person on hand. One of the few things I envy with the newer generations :D
