That's interesting, my Cardo connects almost every time automatically upon startup, only twice have I needed to reboot it to connect.

I have a Freecom 4+ . In order for me to use apple carplay, I need to connect it to my phone, and then plug in phone to bike. I also need to select that I have a headset connected, and it should recognize and connect CarPlay. Then I can have music.

I use Amazon streaming, but if the app asks me if Im still listening, then I get choppy audio in my helmet, and have to turn bike off, close the message in the app on my phone, and then restart and reconnect everything.
Maybe I should get a different streaming service..

I went with Sena because way back when I got mine they were the gold standard for coms. I'm not sure Cardo was even out back them. I still use the original SMH-10 which is not mesh and the universal connectivity is weak at best hence my suggestion of just calling each other to eliminate the hassle of trying to pair them. Biggest advantage I've found with this older model is the ability to use while charging and the high level of water resistance. I get 12+ hours of battery life with music playing near constantly and occasional phone usage. It's not audiophile quality but I have earplugs in anyway so I'm just looking for a little background noise to break things up. I think price wise it's still one of the best for the money.

    https://www.amazon.com/Sena-SMH10-11-Motorcycle-Bluetooth-Microphone/dp/B0087NB088?crid=36J0BD671SUGR&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.3o2QA_ST5BblnRC--17kQq7ZDPvC20DiTAqPD6tVPkGHMN9uOsIHvrRqqo26W9g79VIeMH-68N94joa5WJnUKZNp9WIWJKxuEglkhYzjwmVYdREShbrZZvtmaA1SSCyiPMfSx5cbGSI1PUceTnFRSD56TdZcAUSQMbNN_3BjjHtYiw9Ojjg1bPQEMldvSRvdNwEOoB_qJioiYya9myaVYGnrpQyGulMx_yGhGpGgw1iphTaFHDrv23hF471FLz4tGzu8pokjBIPk02oMFeAUMXzGF8xSzgGz71WJl9Sgc_8.lGlZih_N10S1AwyFbWlWUF6JfTodLtOTid51xy3pHas&dib_tag=se&keywords=sena+smh10&qid=1715194188&sprefix=sena+smh%2Caps%2C128&sr=8-5&th=1

I also like the fact there are only 2 controls and they're easy enough to use even with gloves on.

Couldnt imagine riding my WR450 without its 3.2 IMS natural tank (keeps stock side plastics). Love the look, love the extra 1.2 gallons of gas.

Jeez sounds like you're defusing a bomb every time lol that's a lot of steps

I just start my cardo, it connects to phone, then I pick a song and go lol. But I don't have the kind of tech you do on any of my bikes lol.

lately its been connecting. But if I get a new phone or update firmware on the Cardo.. then its at least 15 min of fiddling, instead of riding. I dont think Ive ever connected to another rider in a group.

My friend has a deposit on a 2024, from the same dealership that I got mine.
He wants the same model as me, base manual. Lets see what color he will get. They are supposed to receive their shipment at the end of May/beginning of June

For me it’s all traffic and a lot of lane splitting, which while I enjoy doing, is still pretty high stress riding.

yes. Tubeless, adjustable windscreen, heated grips (I think) as standard. And they adjusted things inside the engine too

Thanks all good info, I'll continue agonizing over this a decision a bit longer lol

Chuck that's a nice feature that you can charge while using it. Whichever I get I'm going to buy a dual pack so I can put one in my wife's helmet... which had me thinking I'd have a spare to bring along providing the unit is quick enough to swap out.

    That's a bear :( I'd be pretty frustrated

It wasn't until about 4 months ago i started connecting to people, even though i rode with them all the time. had me feeling like the cardo was a wasted expenditure for a while when headphones would have done the trick lol. But it pairs pretty seamlessly with other cardo's in my experience, just gotta hold a button down on mine. Freecom might be tougher though

    Stock-ish
If they made a tank for the KLX that gave more than .7 gallons more, I’d be all over it. But I can’t justify $400 for a 2.7 gallon tank for my 300.

That’s fair. I’m 4-lane country highway with a little bit of back roads and a brief trip through town, so it’s not too bad and usually traffic isn’t too terribly thick.
