    Consider

LEAKage implies a fuel level HIGHER than any sealing surface.

But the FLOAT and needle should prevent such fuel levels.

You have defective float needles or seats!. Simple parts.

Here ya go..when i rebuilt mine I used the randakks cycle shop kit. It was pretty painless overall and the bench sync was good enough for me.

Wait.. am I seeing wire wrapped around some parts holding them together? And what looks like wrong screws in some parts?

If it’s any consolation my first “crash” was worse (ego-wise). I was coming home after visiting my girlfriend and it was late at night. I lived on a somewhat steep inclined street at the time but I grew in that house so i was very familiar with it. Because it was late, I had the habit of revving up to speed and shutting the bike off a couple houses early as I coasted up the street and into the driveway to the garage so I wouldn’t disturb my neighbors. I had done this plenty of times before on the bike and various cars so i already knew how fast to go and when to shut down. Apparently this time I didn’t have the speed so as I’m coasting into the left hand turn to the driveway and leaned in, I just fell right over and the bike on top of me. I must have been going 2 MPH before gravity took over. Hurt my leg a bit but ego took the brunt of the accident. I felt like a complete idiot. It was late enough where there was no one around to get the bike off me and help me pick it up so I had to figure it out on my own. Luckily no witnesses to my slow speed fall either.

still, glad you’re ok. Let it be a lesson and move on.

I’m actually heading down to your neck of the woods this weekend. Might be in the bike too. I’ll reach out if it happens, might be able to get away for a quick scoot if you’re up to it.

Yes the wire is wrapped around where the choke return spring should be as it was missing.

The wrong screws were either from previous owner or the person I had rebuild them used them. Given how much other shortcuts he did on my motorcycle I wouldn’t put it past him. I’ll be replacing the screws for sure, however the choke return spring and the wire works for now until I can find that part.

Or I just might buy Murray carbs.

I likely follow the Iron Butt Rally more than probably anyone else on this thread and I was seriously planning on throwing my name in for the 2025 event when registration finally opens. Sadly this came out last night on FB from Lisa Landry the rally master for the past several year's events:

    Just posted by Lisa laundry

    Hello everyone-
The following note was sent to Iron Butt Rally volunteers a few minutes ago.
    Friends,
We know this email is overdue and apologize for the delay. There have been issues needing resolution before we could open the drawing entry window for a 2025 Iron Butt Rally. Mike and team have been working to determine a solution but it continues to elude us. Despite an impressive safety record, the availability of insurance for the event at the top level has evaporated.
Lisa and I had planned for 2025 to be our "farewell tour". We both felt we had one more rally in us and had decided on a theme before leaving Pittsburgh. Late last year we started lining up the usual types of facilities and joked about the places you might get sent. That was not to be.
It is with sadness that we are announcing that Lisa and I will not be at the IBR helm. It has been an honor to be allowed the opportunity to put our spin and energy into the event and to work with this talented and enthusiastic team. All of you who have volunteered to help with the event are amazing; whether that be scouting locations far and near, scoring riders, manning bonus locations, or helping make sure registration and finish check in go smoothly. None of these events would have been possible without you. From the bottom of our hearts ...Thank you.
We don't know what form the Iron Butt Rally will take in the future. A hallmark of the event is that each has been different than the previous. We look forward to seeing what shape it takes and following along.
    Lisa and Jeff

To say I'm feeling seriously bummed out is an understatement. I have no idea if I would have gotten a spot to get out and try my hand at this major event or not but now even that possibility is gone. I've followed this event for years. I've ridden smaller 32 hour events and done reasonably well including a couple of top 10 finishes. I've followed other riders who I've met and become friends with and in 2019 was even able to help a rider by giving them my FJR to finish the rally on when their BMW suffered a catastrophic engine failure.I've been doing more certificate rides to help build my long distance riding resume. This just sucks on so many levels. F the insurance companies and their lawyers.

That sucks man glad it wasn't worse. I've had two very slow speed low sides that were silly and likely avoidable. Shit happens and you try to learn from it. You have the right attitude and parts on order so that's good... the next ride will be much better!

Damn terrible news, so it's definitely canceled for next year?

I don't mind the cold. I will ride in rain if I have to.....just not a preference.
