Speaking of cheesy hi-viz rain gear, what "nerdy" stuff do you accept because it works well? I use handle bar muffs in the winter when temps drop below 40F. I used to use the big full body thing when I rode scooters in France but it was way more normalized there than in NA.

I'm love big top boxes... being able to stash gear is so convenient.

funny you mention France, because that's the first and only place I've seen those full body scooter covers for riding, in person.

As far as "nerdy" stuff...nothing. I must look the coolest on the road at all times obviously . Maybe sport touring tires on a superbike? Exhaust baffle still in? lol. I do want to look into a tail or tank bag soon though. Some call my Saddlemen seat nerdy because it's so plush but I don't care. My ass never gets sore.

Hippo hands (different brand of bar muffs) are freaking fantastic. I run mine probably 5 months out of the year and give ZERO shits because my hands are toasty and dry.

Nothing too exciting... maybe a little rust
I've always wanted to do this. In fact being able to do that loop is part of what inspired me to want to get a bike in the first place.

I want a bike with a bit more comfy seat and a little more fuel capacity for that trip though. My cheeks are still a little sore from doing the ferry loop out to Port Townsend and back across Whidbey on Saturday. And the ~100 miles burned through pretty much a full tank.

Have the week off from a vacation that didn't pan out, kept the week off for a staycation and I am not mad about that at all. Got a chunk done around the house this morning and ended up on a moto ride around 3pm to get away from the "heat" (it was like 78 where I was, 88 one ridge over where I had to run errands.... It's 108+ inland) , blasted some canyons and ended up at the overcast (much welcomed) cool beach front around 445.... Proceeded to put 2 batteries through the dumb lil boat that keeps on taking a beating n keeps on ticking, beach crasher waves with 3-5ft swell and lots of chop. The lil RC boat blows my mind how well it does.

Wore swim trunks under the moto pants so I could get my feet n legs wet in the ocean. What a freaking great day.

    @but why tho

I took a notice as to clearances you mentioned today. Never had an issue before but by golly tucked in with ball of foot on the peg properly I have MAYBE 1/2 of an inch of clear behind my heel of my boot and that exhaust guard. Much if any bigger boot size I'd by hitting it for sure.

I've always had bikes that were limited to 100 mile fuel stops, now that I have a bike with a 200+ mile tank I don't have the time to do a whole day ride. Fml

    Any ideas?

I have a Hepco&Becker tank rink that likes to rattle at a certain RPM. It's very noticeable, worse without the bag.

I thought maybe glue some rubber to absorb some of the vibes??

pick up a sheet of something like this at the local auto parts store. Designed to compress, and be impervious to temp and fluids. Cut it out discreetly, either little patched near the screws or a ring, whatever. This example is only .016 thk. That's thin, but again, compressible.

could make little standoffs for that raised bit that touches nothing. my guess is thats why it vibrates since its a single cylinder and its thumpy

    I'll look into it
The tank ring is worth it. I was just thinking maybe something would soak up the vibes.....kinda like what sound deadening does. It only does it at a certain RPM and then stops. Just a bit annoying....not the end of the world though :D

It's strange. It won't do it if the bike is leaned on the kickstand....just straight up

It's definitely the tank ring. I can grab it and stop the sound. I'm gonna go grab some of that gasket material and give it a try.

What boat is that? Always been tempted to pick one up but never lived close enough to water to justify it. Now in a new place and bike access to the 100's of lakes nearby, looks like it'd fit into a backpack easier than any of my r/c cars / trucks.

Standoffs for sure, lots of overhang on that causing the resonating vibrating. Can extend maybe a piece to rest on the front of the seat pad? Whatever you end up doing think about rubbing wear on whatever it ends up touching on.
