Covid was when I started riding. Possibly the best time I could have started riding, roads and freeways as empty as if it was 4am. The one bonus to being an "essential worker"

I hear that. My head is more narrow than round. So finding a helmet that works for me sometimes can be challenging. I also wear a medium small noggin

HJC I100. I like it for how well it's vented and how the chin can be flipped and locked back. It is really vented well, which is a plus in Texas.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

I would not ask you to, but I havent worn anything but modular or 3/4 since I started wearing glasses. Cable temple glasses dont work well with full face.

We all access our own risk level.

I find my shoei rf1200 to be kind of loud. Also have a Bell MX9 that I use when off roading the KLX. I don’t like it on the street because the air moves it around a lot. Then I have a speed and strength SS1310 under the radar that I wear on the monkey and Klx on the street. The shoei and SS have about the same wind noise. Best to wear ear plugs with any helmet really. So IMO get what you can afford that offers the protection you desire and that fits your head shape. Also IMO always get or wear a full face helmet. Anything less is just asking for trouble. Might as well wear shorts and flip flops.

I love my MX9 ADV unless on long road trips at high speeds. My windscreen is def effective though, would not recommend on naked bikes.

Heck, I know a few who would tell you riding a motorcycle is just asking for trouble. LOL

I rarely wear anything with hard armor anymore.

Just giving my opinions based on experience. I am under the “wear what you want” but will always be Atgatt person. I have been down in shorts tank top no helmet when I was 18. That was the very last time I ever did that. Getting your road rash scrubbed out with a scrub pad will change most people’s mind.

Heard that don't feel good. Buddy of mine went down doing a rolling burnout over 60mph with a tank top on. Had to get skin graphing done didn't sound like a good experience to me. I always ride with gear. I've also taking a few spills and been hit twice. Gear saved me more than once.

Had a customer fall off his new custom chopper running about 50 mph on I-35 in Fort Worth in a pair of swim trunks, flip flops and nothing else. LMAO One of our guys went and saw him in the hospital and said there was not an inch of skin from the top of his head to the soles of his feet that didnt have scabs.

Man, what a day. Sorry in advance for the rant.

Was supposed to drive about 6 or 7 hours to my parents on the west side with my wife and 5 month old daughter. Get about 3 hours in, stop to eat lunch and gas up, get back on the highway and my 4runner starts popping dash lights, radio going in and out, fan cutting in and out. Uh oh. Make it to a rest stop and turn the car off and go to turn it back on and it's dead as a doornail, starter relay isn't even clicking. I was hoping it was a simple loose battery terminal or something, not the case.

    Fuck.

Threw my noco gb40 jump pack on it and get it started again, hook up the OBD dongle I have and pull up the app and I have 11 volts at idle, 8 volts when I turn the engine off again. Shit shit shit. It's 95 degrees and I'm at a rest stop in the middle of the state. There was a NAPA about 4 miles down the freeway, so I leave the jump pack on the battery for a bit, start it up, turn off every accessory and tell my wife I hope we make it there.

Made it there, and LUCKILY they had an alternator in stock. I keep an emergency bag of tools in the back, again luckily, and change out the scorching hot alternator in the now 97 degree parking lot in 2 hours. Book time is 1.2 hours so I feel pretty fucking good about it. I had a bunch of bottles of water and a couple ice packs in the cooler in the car, so I'd pour half a bottle onto whatever bolt I was trying to remove to cool it off, drink the other half, and kept tucking ice packs into my shirt and waist band to stay cool haha.

Burns on both my hands and one arm, but we made it back home for the night. If we had kept going to my parents we would have had to go over snoqualmie pass and it's even more remote than the route we came down and I wasn't going to risk the alternator I put in being a dud and getting stranded again. At one point in the route it got to 108 with no cell service, so again, real damn lucky.

Seven hour drive turned into an 11 hour drive, and my daughter didn't get cranky until hour 10 and my wife amazingly didn't get cranky at all. She found a cafe and a boutique to go look around and hang out in while I was sweating all of my balls off haha.

Moral of the story: carry tools and water.

Oh, and motorcycle related part of the post and a bright side, the 12v ride on Grom got delivered today! So instead of being at my parents I get to play with that this weekend

I'm in my second season with EXO-R1 air as my main everyday helmet. It’s a motoGP lid at a lower price point, very light for not being carbon ( my other helmet is an AGV carbon sport modular) fits great, great field of view. I ride a naked bike and the air bladder locks it in place really well. Seems like a lot of helmet for the price. Came with clear AND tinted screen, and a pin lock. Has an outer shell that recieves the Cardo clip. I’m happy. ONLY beef is the Harry Potter scar. lol.

I was strictly a full face helmet user from when I got my first bike around 1985 until I started doing long distance rallies in 2013 when I got my first modular helmet. I was a bit concerned at first with the front chin bar being hinged but having known a few riders using them who had been in accidents and seeing the helmets afterwards I quit worrying. Your head, your choice.

Wifey daily’s one of those Scorpion Exo Airs, whereas I went with the Shoei RF-SR. I absolutely love my Shoei. I’ve been full tuck a couple times and it is almost eerie how quiet it is. She’s mentioned air noise several times in hers, but of course this is all relative. Pretty dang comfortable compared to everything else I’ve tried and the airflow is surprisingly decent. As long as I’m moving I haven’t found myself getting too steamy inside it.

I'm actually looking for a new helmet myself and just can't seem to find any that I really like. Looking for a modular style, want hi viz yellow, NO built in Com unit, and prefer double D ring chin strap. Currently still using a Shoe Neotec first generation which really is pretty old though I've replaced all the pads and a Schuberth C3 Pro but I don't really like the buckle closure on the chin strap. New Neotec 3 has buckle closure, set up for built in come and no hi viz yellow color.
