Actually I forgot to add that the squeak sound was coming from the clutch cable and not the head bearing. Lube up your clutch cable while you are at it. Even though it was probably the head bearing grease it also could have been binding a bit in the clutch cable.

 

Trigger a relay from the high beam an option? That's what I'm working on currently, also with BD S2'S. Keeps most everyone happy that way, and no additional switch, just a relay.

 

Would really like some added light during the day for visibility. So leaning towards always on @10% or so with dimmer, and then 100% with high beam as a trigger. Gonna run these by my wiring expert buddy when he gets back from a trade show later this week.

that PWM dimmer isnt going to work. The driver circuit of the LED pods is essentially already doing that to drive the LED's, Unless the POD's already have a dim function you only have the ability for on off with voltage supplied within the range of the specs of the LED pod.

 

This is why i was gonna run these by my buddy before purchase, haha. So how would I dim a Baja pod light?

I'm going to admit I was hoping for a cheaper option that that, lol. Just need to find a compatible dimmer. Using the high beam as a trigger for dual output relay would take care of switching between the two modes.

 

Actually... the Skene is also a PWM controller. Per what I can find online, a PWM is what's needed for LEDs with built in controllers??

Are there differences between one PWM controller output and another?

 

I mean it might work? Im actually surprised that there is something like the skene out there I always thought that driving an LED pod with a built in driver wouldnt work, but if it does then neat. Worth a try I guess!?

 

Ugh sounds hot! Weather here was beautiful yesterday I went to NJMP again. This was my second time riding Thunderbolt track, did the intro class a few weeks ago and found it helpful learning the line. Felt like I rode better this time but I'm pretty slow and have lots to work on. Awesome day overall and hoping to get one more in before the end of season. Bought the pics so I could see how poor my body position was ha

 

Nice! I always find it helpful to follow the instructors the first few times around and watch their lines. Bummed as I was to move the weekend, I don't regret doing so because the heat was miserable this weekend haha.

I've actually been shopping around online this morning to see about getting one of those small Honda Generators for future track days lol. Would help with tire warmers or a misting fan, at the very least.

 

I also just pinged BD themselves to see why their 40%/100% dimmer only works on Squadron SPORTS, and not on Pros as well. I am getting conflicting info online about PWM controllers working with BD lights. Some say it doesn't work, but then Switch Pros and such do work, even though everything seems to run via PWM controller, lol. So why would one PWM work and another not?

I might see about just buying the PWM controller and trying it. I already had the BDs wired up as a makeshift flashlight, so easy enough to test it without installing it on the bike!

 

All lined up for next saturday, the 21st no discussion on price yet but i know my bottom number and i doubt he’s going to drive 14 hours round trip to leave empty handed.

 

I have a 1665/1850 running 2500/2500 starting watt champion dual fuel generator (wattage figures to the left are for propane/gas). Its great to have for emergencies as well as RV camping etc. I start it up on propane once a year (so no having to deal with draining carb/gas) and let it run for about 30 min under load of a toaster oven to vary the load. Then change its quart of oil and put it in its cubby in the garage. Cheap insurance. Id have no problem using it more consistently on either gas or propane (gas is easy to drain from the carb) if I needed to. Its built well and runs pretty quiet, maybe not as quiet as the honda but still very quiet for a generator. I have had honda EU generators in the past (have 2 at my parents.... which reminds me the bigger EU3000 needs to be gone through for proper storage its been a few years).

Long story to make my point: You dont necessarily have to spend the big bucks for the honda, Champion / Pulsar / Wen / Westinghouse all have pretty highly regarded generators at like a half to a 3rd the price.

 

I never get excited until they are actually here. Too many flakes and people that back out last minute. I hope that’s not the case.
I have had three inquiries . One lowballed at 5k , one has his balls in a jar guarded by his wife and then what I think might be a Facebook bot. Message sounded right but his Facebook page is old and only two pics. Plus he hasn’t responded back.
Oh and one guy that keeps messaging me on FB but he has to sell his bike first. So really no interest yet.

 

Great info, yeah it seems they're all pretty solid and reliable, main difference between the brands seems to be noise level mostly lol.

Most people were recommending the Hondas just because they're quiet, which is certainly a nice perk to have at the track which is already loud. I was going to look at some of the Pulsar and Westinghouse options but pretty early in my search today I found a guy selling a used EU2200i for $400. so here's hoping that one pans out haha

EU2200 is by far the quietest gen I have personally heard. Pops has one for his trailer. For 400$ if it's clean and low use.... Well worth it. Get it, change, oil, spark plug and do a valve adjustment and it will go for a Loooong time.

 

I have two of those at work, they're fantastic, and thats an awesome price.

Had an employee not drain the carb or run it dry correctly (new ones have a fuel cutoff and you're supposed to run it dry) so it got put away with normal gas in it. Covid happened, didn't get a chance to put it away properly myself, and we didn't use them for a couple years, went to grab it and figured I'd at least have to clean out the carb. Nope. Old ass gas and it still started on the third pull. We use them to run our outdoor movies. A pair will do a laser projector, blowers for a massive screen, and the laptop and stereo systems. We started with one for random one off outdoor PA's and since you can link them we just bought a second when we started outdoor movies up instead of going for a larger single unit.
