I think I am leaning towards the gasgas. It has aluminum wheels and that red is bright.

The GasGas looks sweet saw one at the dealer last month. I love my 701 only issue has been the leaky countershaft seal. Think I have about 7200mi on it now. It’s an awesome bike…feels very light, great handling, nice brakes/suspension, quick shifter, power is perfect for a backroad ripper. It sounds like you’re already a hooligan and if not this bike will bring it out ha

ahh okay that makes that a load easier! i know the main bearing of the drz400 was a bitch to remove when we pulled it on my buddies so thats my only knowledge to it. ill give that a go this weekend when im free. tomorrow ill be busy watching the last of a show i grew up on lol.
that did cross my mind as well tbh. ill take a look into that as well if it is ill take it off at least and regrease everything and tighten it back up
will do ill give that a go this weekend. ya i had plans to lube the cables they seemed a tad dry. also what grease are you guys using for the bearings?

Man I just didn't "love" my 690 that much. It was a decent bike but not great for anything. A 500 would have been more fun around town. A bigger bike would have been better for highway. It just felt like a bigger better drz.

Alas I personally don't think id buy another.

I like the DRZ too and thought about getting one, but as you said the 701 is like a better version so decided to go with that. A 500 would be nice but thought that had shorter maintenance cycles? I agree it's probably more fun but think the 690 makes a better all around street bike. Also would have to get 17s for it. Was yours the enduro model?

It does have "shorter" maintenance but i think looking at the manual vs what the 500 will actually do is a bit misleading. There's guys putting hundreds of hours on bikes before a top end or valve adjustment. I know I've seen some with over 500 hours of riding.

Yeah it was an enduro model.

That's good to hear, I like the 500 and I'm sure it's a blast to ride. My buddy has a 690 enduro, we've switched bikes and suspension feels very different between the two. We both agreed mine handled better and feels more planted on the street. Just wanted to call that out as we found it interesting for being essentially the same bike aside from a few updates. His is older think it's a 2014. Crappy pic for a visual...

Oh I'm sure the suspension is different. Valving definitely is and I believe the triple offset is too.

Honestly wish I would have a bought a 500 back then instead.
