Yup. It eliminates the need for a tank bag altogether.

Royal Enfield has really come a long way in recent years. When I went to AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days in July I spent some time talking with Wendy Crockett as she is now working for a company called Vintage Bike Tours and they are doing group tours all over the world using them. I haven't ridden one personally but really should find the time to go do that. I suspect on the interstate they might feel a bit "busy" but are capable.

V-strom was a suggestion I had posted too. I did a Void Rally in 2019 and teamed up with a rookie who did it on the 650 version. Definitely capable machine, we did 1368 miles in 31 hours and he had zero issues staying with me on my FJR1300.

F series BMW is a nice bike as well. My ex g/f has a F800ST that she still rides and it's showing in the high 50k mile range now. Slightly more expensive to service if you can't do some stuff yourself.

I forgot about the NC700X. Friend of mine did the Iron Butt Rally on one of those, the DCT version. Really good option as those bikes run very well, easy to modify, and Honda reliability.

Under the seat, yeah. My F800GS is the same way, keeps the center of gravity low. Some of the newer KTM's have tanks on either side of the engine slung low, too.

Welp, sounds like I'll be getting a bike again, just not on quite what I was expecting...

I rode sport bike for many years, got into trackdays, then into racing, and after riding on the track riding a sport bike on the street become boring to me. Sold my S1000RR, wadded up my race bike and never rebuilt, have a Grom but rarely take it out. I've been wanting another bike, but something a little easier to just puts around on, take to work, etc., BUT, I tend to gravitate towards high end or badass so I've been watching for a bobber or something similar to come along for the right deal but nothing has caught my eye. Have been contemplating selling or offering the Grom as a trade for something.

Yesterday I got a call from my uncle that if I want my late great uncles bike, that my great aunt would love for me to have it. They haven't been able to sell it and she would rather see it go to me, so I'll be getting his Yamaha Stratoliner (unknown year). I don't know much about them other than it's a 1900cc big heavy cruiser thats apparently quite powerful.

I tried to google custom strats, and some stuff came up but thats really my style, but a few Roadliner bobber builds popped up that caught my eye. My understanding is the Roadliner is the same bike minus all the extra stuff like saddle bags and such, so I'm assuming I could get the strat to be similar. Anyone familiar with either models?

that's what I mean...as time progresses, what changes is you try to resist bikes less and instead put your efforts into, oh, say, a pole barn, for instance. An Enclosed 6x12 trailer. A bigger truck (did that already)

    :)
