Gotcha. I might play around with the preload a bit this coming weekend to see if it's worth doing every time or not on the S1K.

I don’t, I figure the Super Tenere is heavy enough to not care.

If I rode 2 up, yes I would... but it's easy on the ST with electronic suspension.

You got a AAA membership, might go there, I havent set food inside a DMV office in a long time thanks to them.

ES suspension on the super tenere... couple of taps with my left thumb and pointer finger and I can change from the 4 levels of preload in the rear pretty easy (single rider, single rider w/ luggage, 2 up, 2 up with luggage).

    :D

It's a pointless flex because I don't ride two up. I do adjust for luggage though.

Yup, but make sure it's on the centerstand when adjusting the rear.

Naw no need to be on the center stand, just running and stopped. The electric motor that runs the hydraulic preload collar has tons of mechanical advantage and the weight of the bike/you/2nd person/luggage is insignificant.

Speaking of AAA and paperwork, paid the registration on my 2015 Super tenere and 2013 Toyota tacoma this past weekend at AAA. In and out in under 20 min with about a 15min wait time (always "busy" on a sat) Stickers and DMV registration paperwork in had. I love AAA for this

6.8% and 4.0% up in costs YoY respectively for the ST and Tacoma that are now a year older..... God I fucking hate the idiots that run this state and the fools who keep voting for them /rant.

See I always forget about AAA because I usually just handle my paperwork/renewals online through the DMV website. Usually goes pretty smoothly, had no issues with the XSR, BMW, or the R3. YZ250 had a small mailing snafu where they just forgot to send it out, but once it was sent it came in 2 weeks. Same with the truck, always easy registration renewal, except one year it never showed up.

i'm glad all my registration is squared away for until next year at least. My truck reg no longer seems to drop despite being over a decade old now. that damn weight fee really adds up.

Don't they have an adjustment collar on them? My antique Honda has 5 steps on a collar to adjust the spring preload.

Ehhh I have two guys that are trying to sell a buy so they can buy mine.. Ones selling a multistrada (tempted to say trade plus cash on his end to try it out, tbh..) and the other is selling a slightly abused looking FTR. Then had another guy reach out earlier this week on ADVRider from California who is interested, but hasn't tried one, so he wants to find one local to test ride first and then may be interested.

Not really holding my breath on any of the three.

The FTR: Like, bruh, at least put the exhaust back on.

So why not just replace the shocks? Plenty of decent shock manufacturers around. You could also just swap out the springs for something heavier duty to handle 2-up riding.

well damn...that seems like a hell of a steal on the FTR, that would get sold in a heartbeat down here...probably to me hahaha. yeah dude is doing himself a disservice advertising it without the muffler, makes it look clapped.

welp fingers crossed for you man. i mean worst case...you still have an awesome bike to ride around on until it does sell.
