Are those wires near heat from the exhaust? Could be heat cycled so many times causing things to get brittle.

as others said, seems to me that it dried out. You said 6 years of use right? That's plenty of time around a hot engine and exposure to the elements for it to get brittle. doesn't look melted or fried, just brittle and torn open.

Yeah, six years of 8 degree to 105 degree heat. I'm wondering if that trip I did this summer of 6+ hours of non stop riding in 95-100 heat was the last straw, dried it out and now that it's cold and dry it's cracking. I dunno.

The wiring itself is behind a little plastic panel, above the engine, between the side panel and the throttle bodies. Not directly near exhaust but definitely not shielded from engine heat. Wires snake up from the stator right in front of the countersprocket, behind the Regulator/Rectifier, to the RR connector plug behind that little plastic panel. The stator itself gets cooked from lack of oil flow around it and being so close to the exhaust. Known issue with pre-2012 F800GS's. After that they go to a vented rotor that allows more oil to come through and the failure rate goes way down on them.

Since some of you guys here like Lego's (aka @spencermarkd ) I figured I'd post this here:

Just finished the McLaren MP4/4 today. I bought some spare blank pieces and a Marlboro livery to make it period correct, as well as printed some wider rear wheels/tires. It was a fun build:

Also I didn't realize that the Panigale V4 S that @spencermarkd posted has a real 3 speed transmission with neutral! Definitely want to get it for my dad now (or maybe even myself...).

The S1000RR does also! Probably the coolest part of the whole build.

    So.. going through my sets..

R1200GS - no gears, rear wheel connected straight to crankshaft
    Older Panigale - 2 gears + N
    Kawi H2R - 2 gears + N
    MT-10 - 3 gears + N
    M1000-RR - 3 gears + N
    Vespa - nothing lol

The shift drums and mechanisms are pretty damn cool, kind of fascinating how they do them. Easily the trickiest parts of the entire builds. The larger F1 cars (Currently Mercedes, Mclaren, soon to be out Red Bull and Ferrari) have really intricate and "accurate" suspensions, drivelines, and diffs, too. I have the Senna set sitting on the shelf waiting to get built. No Marlboro livery though, that's rad.

Managed to get out yesterday for almost 100 miles to get the photo tag for one of the games over on ADV rider. 33 degrees the entire time so the heated liner and gloves worked overtime keeping me comfy.

The old iron furnace at Pine Grove was the tag. This is a favorite area for me to ride anyway. It's also the halfway point on the Appalachian Trail which runs over 2000 miles from Maine to Georgia.

Made this the new tag, on the campus of Messiah College.

Nice!! Thanks for reminding me about the motorcycle photo game thread. I should go back and participate.

I just got the ECU for the Super Tenere yesterday from 2 Wheel DynoWorks and installed it last night. I was going to take it for a quick spin before meeting my parents for lunch today when my wife just suggested we ride it to lunch instead. :bikewheelie:

Current tag shouldn't be too tough on here.

Currently it's 34 degrees here with slight snow forecast. Might have to drive the Tacoma to work for most of the week again. My g/f insists on temps over 50 for anything more than a very short ride.

Despite all the rain we've gotten in the last two days, it's actually a clear, sunny day today. Wife and I rode our bicycles 22 miles to get coffee.

Maybe I misunderstood what I read. They haven't yet? Ktm owned 50% and it might be going back to the Italians. Guess ktm "bought" shares originally at 25% of the company.

My understanding now is company decisions for MV are going back to Italy vs austria

Also in the process of going through grom parts to throw out cus I will NEVER USE THEM..... (Watch it's going to be the box of random cables conundrum)

Created this lil desk art for work or home. Stock grom cam (minus decomp weight), bolted to a stock grom clutch lifter plate with some feet. (~4$ in hardware I grabbed in my evening travels to make this happen).

Do any of you guys save random weird internal moto parts for stuff like this or am I the only odd ball? I Have a "piston display" at work that goes from a 3cc nitro RC motor to a 15L inline 6 diesel truck piston.
