I'm comfortable getting back on the bike for road use....but not gonna lie. I'm a bit gun shy to get offroad even though it wasn't really an offroad wreck(if that makes sense)

They've also discontinued the Super Tenere as well. Oddly enough Canada is still getting the FJR in 2025. I'm a little torn. I would be unlikely to buy a new one as I have 2 now that have lots of life left in them and the only thing I see that I'd like to have would be the LED lighting and possibly the 6 speed transmission but even those wouldn't make me spend the money at this time. Sadly what would likely cost me money would be a final edition in the old Kenny Roberts/Yamaha racing colors.....

hmm that would be interesting but the Super ten and the FJR are two drastically different bikes IMO so combining them into one would probably make sales even worse? who knows.

Tracer is already kind of the middle group. Looks adventure-y, but shouldn't be ridden offroad like the S10, but has hard cases and is a sport tourer like the FJR. FJR is bigger than the tracer, but a larger Tracer with advanced electronics would make sense to me. Use the S10's 1200cc motor, shaft drive, but the 17/17 wheels and electronics of the tracer and a big larger baggage and fairings. I dunno, just throwing my ideas out.

I'm still just a bit touchy in that ankle. I have been able to trot, but not run. I also still have a bit of a glitch when walking b/c of being a bit tight flexing my toes upward.

Hmm, while I love the S10 as it stands, it would behoove yamaha to do an updated engine. IMO it needs a lower first gear and taller sixth, 20-30more hp to be competitive and less weight with better mpgs. That stated, I love the stupid heavy tank, been riding it alot for around town as the XT225 is still in dirtbike mode and its so nice to have the creature comforts. Ill probably do a valve check on it this winter break when I have time as I have had it for 2 years and absolutely beat on it in the last 10k miles. (It hardly ever sees a ride where it doesnt hit revlimiter hahah)

I really love the engine on my Super Tenere to be honest. I wouldn’t mind an updated version in a Tracer like @spencermarkd suggested.

I’ve put just over 14k miles on mine. Still loving it! I was actually thinking I should find another set of the yellow plastics to hold on to.

Also need to do that steering stem greasing.

If i had to nitpick the engine that would be it from above. Honestly its a great platform, I have never had another bike that I just get on and ride without a worry in the world or need to check anything other than tire pressures.

Absolutely take the time to grease the steering stem and do the preload properly (with a good socket - offer still stands on if you want to borrow mine) - Pretty common to have the preload loosen up on a bike thats never been touched.

i feel i should check my bolt as well on the steering stem. i know they have bearing failures but i also know my buddy who mainly owns yamaha has stated all of his newer Yamahas including his t7 had an issue with the steering and just had to grease and tighten his.

well after the entire bs that i had with a local powdercoat company me and a buddy decided to just do it our selves since we both have done it a few times a looong time ago.

he is looking at getting this black with blue metalic flakes for his offroad venture he is making. im looking at getting this dark bronze for the bolts wheels.
    upload_2024-12-20_7-6-38.png
this one is hard to see unless you look at the youtube video of it. he is thinking of doing the wheels and some other bits on his bike.upload_2024-12-20_7-7-13.png
and this is the bronze im looking at doing for my wheels on my bike. should look good with the green paint on the bike and bronze wheels. prob work on it sometime this upcoming week since we are both off work for a week and a half so hopefully ill get my wheels and tires back on the bolt!

My Secret Santa gift form ADVRider forum arrive yesterday! Couldn't wait until next week, some stuff might be perishable you know.

I have one of the large silicone tool/parts trays but this small one will be handier for use on the bikes. The thread checker is something I never would have thought about buying for myself but it is NICE. Anodized aluminum with Imperial and Metric male nut and bolt sizes up to about 1/2" or 14mm. Has 2 small slots predrilled so I can hand it from a leg of my workbench where it will be out of the way until needed. The motorcycle journal is cool. 60 pages with small blocks to list what bike, who was with you, where you rode, any issues, weather, and more. Will be a neat way to document travels. Of course the bottle of moonshine will have to be sampled this weekend!

Great stuff! Thread checkers are so damn handy. i have one where they’re all strung on a wire so if I need to check a threaded boss somewhere I can, but it makes a quick but check difficult.

I have the big HF one and a small grypmat. I use the small one in the garage fairly often, works great for keeping things from rolling off the seat. The big HF one I use when i’m building lego mostly haha keeps all the little pieces in one place and lets me move it around the house if I don’t have time to finish a bag and need to clean up or put it away.

I just got that one yesterday so haven't used that one as yet. I bought the large one a couple years back and it's really versatile. Mostly though I use it when assembling model car kits and Lego set. LOL. Great for avoiding spilling stuff on the kitchen table......I can see the small one being real handy on the bikes though.
