Man I hate reading this! As much as I would like to go along on some group rides my experiences have been such that I simply don't do them anymore. Hope all riders check out okay.

Right. Every group ride I've been on seems like someone crashed.

One thing I need to remember for next year. This is not an event where you want to arrive when it first opens. Be better off showing up closer to noon to see the largest number of bikes. Lots of late arrivals.

Yup agreed. I won't participate in group rides for that reason, too many people in too tight of an area always leads to stupid or crash.

Took a ride today, had an event that took me away from my normal PCH Malibu south of where I live direction to slightly inland and North through farmland and back country Twisties. Beautiful day for sure.

just a couple of things tbh
I've only been in one large group ride for a charity where it's controlled by the police. But even then someone still was stupid and caused a few to go down thankfully at low speeds and nobody was injured...

The only group ride I go on is the moped rally because well tiny mopeds you just kick em outta the way haha.

I thought of you when I took that picture. Same owner for 46 years, unusual color but didn't get to ask if it was original.

Glad you're finally getting started, by my count I should have 122 points with 111 locations visited. Those 2 point poker chips when you can get them help a lot.

My first group ride was a "newbie night"

I had a near wreck because I stopped for a pedestrian in a flashing cross walk, the guys got mad at me for stopping. Many didnt have plates and constantly rode in the opposing lanes.

Won't do any rides with people I don't know now. I find 1-4 buddies is the sweet spot. Anymore I'm not interested.

Took the 890 out yesterday on first Offroad trip since I bought her. Can say she did not disappoint.

PA and to an extent the surrounding states have a ton of locations that start with GLM or C. Just on the one trip @FreshOldTaco and I took in April we each scored enough points for finisher status in one day. I've been messing around in Basecamp building more routes for weekend trips. I'm usually on a bike every weekend for at least a couple of hours.

i was shocked as well! but i will say calling it a castle is a stretch lol
    [IMG]
Coronado heights is the name. im not sure the purpose of it but it looked neat. its either go out there and check it out on the bike or maybe go up north to Nebraska to maybe visit a buddy of ours and get food but kinda leaning towards the castle thing lol

I have been on many group rides. The larger ones are usually better planned out. I used to do a lot of rides for the thin blue line, the police shut down all the cross roads and those where awesome fun rides. Sometimes upwards of 500 to 1000 bikes. The small towns we went through knew we where coming and would line the streets to watch the bikes come through with the police escort.
Now I've been on some smaller group rides and yes you have to be very alert. I think one of the problems with yesterday's ride was that it was a little to spirited and fast, they should have slowed it down a bit.
I also agree that riding with just a few friends is more fun too. I like the guys I ride with because we all have different bikes and we have all been riding a very long time and trust each other. Plus we pick on each other alot! Lol.
I feel bad for the folks that went down yesterday. But I also enjoyed my solo ride, no phone and just unplugged.:bikewheelie2:
