Not saying I'd want one for travel, but I know a guy that uses a Tesla for work. He's a high-end real estate photographer/videographer. He travels all around WA, including day trips all the way across the state. He does have to plan his stops for charging, but since he always tracked his spending for fuel/mileage etc for work, he has shown a veritable SHIT TON of savings in $$$s. Talking thousands a year, and that's not even including the multiple oil changes he's not having to get per year. It's been more than worth it for the added planning/slight inconvenience. He drives a decked out FJ for offroading/camping.

I would love one for a daily/commuter. It simplifies everything and I would save a ton on gas. The Taco doesn't exactly "slow sip"

Oh, I'm not saying it doesn't make sense for some. It doesn't make sense for me. I have way too many unplanned and last minute trips that an EV simply couldn't handle.

Off the top of my head I can think of 3 emergency trips that were over 300 miles one way that needed to be completed with as little stopping as possible. Two I made without stopping for fuel due to the urgency. That just isn't possible with any current EV in my area. Too much wind, too much elevation, and it gets too cold.

That's why I said I would never go to just an EV. Were it in the cards to get a second vehicle I would not be opposed to an EV. It's not worth the cost of a second vehicle, though.

Yeah, but the price of the EV, plus it's insurance, registration, and the EV fee lots of states/counties are putting on them will buy a boatload of fuel and maintenance for the Taco. People fall into the trap of thinking they are saving money by buying a new or additional car, and it almost never works out to make financial sense.

eh ip theft be everywhere lol.

no clue who that is lol i know the smaller cfmoto 400 adventure had some twiggy forks and people didnt like it as much. a buddy of mine rode the ibex800 and really liked it but he stated it doesnt have a lot of character? he said its just a bike that gets you place to place without issues but its not as playful as a t7.

Got my first motorcycle ride planned with folks this coming Saturday. Wife's not going, will just be me, a buddy and his brother, and possibly 1 other. Ran by Cycle gear to check out frogg toggs for cheap rain gear. Found out they only have the black ones now. I wanted hi-viz to go along with all our other safety gear. I'd rather be seen if it's rainy and nasty.

Ended up grabbing this while I was there. Wanted something small I could throw in my tank bag and be able to lock my jacket/helmet to bike if needed. Nice not to have to pay for shipping on small things like this.

And since no hi-viz in frogg toggs, I ordered these Revit pants from RevZilla. Rather have them and not need them...

Except honda isn't know to have constant clutch problems or subpar components. CF Moto got that reputation. Maybe they improved, but IDK.

That's like california's stance on shoplifting. "Everyone does it so it's okay." Fuck that.

Yeah it only really makes sense if your car is dead and needs to be replaced and you are going to keep the car for a long time. My wife really wants the Rivian R3 and she's had her car since new for the past 12 years so I think it makes sense for her.

I find having 4 cars kind of sucks but I also don't know how to downsize at this point.

FWIW, CFMoto is partly owned by KTM last I checked (or was previously?) and makes a few models of KTMs for KTM and as part of that, gets to use it's engine designs. And up until this Spring, KTM distributed CFMoto in Europe for them. It's not IP theft if they're a partner and told to do it. Don't get me wrong, lots of companies out there steal lots of things, but CFMoto is actually really, really in the clear on this one.

I would fuck with a Rivian or a Slate any day of the week as a second vehicle. I really hope Slate succeeds and used ones slowly become available.

Yeah I think they make the 790/890 engines for KTM and in return they're allowed to use those engines in their own bikes.

My issue with the Slate is too much overlap with my Pickup, and it doesn't make sense to spend $30k+ on a Slate when the Pickup will basically never die (it's got a 22RE with under 170k miles on it and I've gone through everything in the past couple years I've owned it) and parts/insurance are super cheap. Also the battery range on the Slate sucks so I can't do stuff like driving 4 hours each way to buy a motorcycle like I did when getting the WR.

Oh 100%. Both times I've thought someone was going to buy the 701 I immediately started looking at 1st gen tacos or older pickups or T100s. I just need something with a bed for around town home depot trips and shit. Totally would fill the same void.

My truck came in so handy for the dozens of Home Depot trips, storage unit trips, etc when we were selling and moving last year. Don't know what I would have done without it!

I think the Slate also has a ~4.5-5 ft bed. I really would like a 6ft bed like my Pickup has.
