It came with gold Marchesinis and Ohlins suspension. It was, and still is, a badass bike. My favorite of the R1s by far

I've read so much about how you have to have spoked offroad on an adventure bike... I just don't get it. A dirtbike or maybe even T7 where you're slamming into things and jumping repeatedly, I get it. But something like riding a BDR with a ginormous Adv bike? Cast should be perfectly fine. When first researching my bike people really suggested the Rally Raid spoked wheels and said it was a must have just to get on gravel. Then I read about a rental fleet in south america that a guy keeps. He's had a ton of things busted, including frames, engine cases, etc. Boatloads of things fail when offroading and being abused, but he never had a cast wheel break. But again, I think the definition folks use for offroad is just not well defined.

I did smack a few rocks and dented my skid plate so I’d still rather have spoked wheels.

Shoulder was feeling a little better so went on a ride. 1st time after first oil change. Rode in sport mode. Did a few runs up to 8k and a couple up to 9k. This bike pulls pretty darn good. Starts to sound mean at 5k. Pretty happy with the stock system. Even with ear plugs in I can still hear it. I will think about a ECU flash later. 2wheeldynoworks usually has a Christmas flash special so I can save a few bucks. Won’t have to remove my ecu just show up and they will flash via the obd port.
The front screen did a good job with wind. Didn’t cause any buffeting or any problems.

you get more adv points for spoked wheels!

I've got spoked wheels but they come with their own set of issues. I've broken plenty of them on bicycles and that makes for a fun day. anything can break if you are unlucky or abuse it enough.

Need to leave a little review. Bought a pair of Indie Ridge ventilated boots in June. Used them for about 500 miles of mostly commuting. The midsole on the left boot broke one day. For safety, the stiff midsole is extremely important to keep your foot from folding and breaking. I called the company and the owner answered. Told him what was going on, he said it was definitely a warranty issue. He also said this is only the third pair that this has ever happened. No pictures needed, he sent a new pair to me. He was out of stock of the ones I had, but let me choose a different style. Very happy with the customer service.

BTW, these boots have the highest safety rating that a low boot can have, CE1,2,2,2. The boots in front are the new ones.

I will forgive the stupidest of problems with good customer service. Sounds like a standup company.

I hate laces, but my current velcro boots havent been perfect. I may get a boa lace set for my next moto shoe like my boots have.

Those are some good looking boots! I'm kind of wanting some new boots after my foot got squished by the Super Tenere but other than that I can't complain about my Gaerne boots at all.

I'm partial to the ratchet latch system, I like how quick they are to use and how secure they feel.

They are my street boots. Surprisingly comfortable for a stiff moto boot. I have an old pair of Forma Terra Evo boots for off road.

Noice. I'm a fan of giving them as little money as possible. Nels is a douche, but they are about as good as it gets as far as Yamaha tuning goes

Hell yeah! Thats a clean lookin bike! Welcome!

Crash bars IMO should allow you with simple tools and without removal of said crash bar open up the side panel to get to the battery / fuses in case that needs to be dealt with.

What happened to your current crash bars? Can they not be bent back an fixed? I had to reinforce my Givi crash bars on my super tenere after I got it home but they seem to deal with tip overs decently enough... tho im not going off road on my ST.

Also have you considered a rear "jack up" link for some extra ground clearance? I have a "40"mm jack up link on my super tenere cus the ES suspension is so soft and low from the factory and Id scrape the skid on freaking speed bumps. Also increasing rear ride height makes things a little more flickable in the twisties. GB motorcycle products out of the UK makes them for pretty cheap shipped.

Finally got better last week on Friday got two days of feeling good and then my throat started hurting thought nothing of it and took meds to help it.... Welll guess who has strep throat symptoms even thou I tested negative? So now I'm taking antibiotics to hopefully clear this up before palooza but I don't know if it will clear up in time sadly...
