Right rear signal finally perished today. Left it hanging in front of the exhaust too long and the positive wire melted. So now i only have three working signals.

Need to get those four shorties wired in this weekend. While i'm detailing my truck, i might just do that.

Get the 690 and have the suspension redone by a reputable shop. You'll never look back after that. Oh and the 690 is an absolute BLAST around town. Accelerates like a bat outta hell and very flickable.

    How much do 690's weigh?

One of my reason for picking the WR is because of it's weight. 35" seat height is the maximum I'm currently comfortable with so the lighter the bike the better.

    317 lbs

I have short f'in legs (29" inseam) and on the 690 I just had one foot down at stop lights and the bike was leaned a little to the right (right foot was down). After a couple stop lights I got used to it and it never bothered me. The bike is very light and has a very low center of gravity so you don't feel the weight like some other bikes.

Pretty big jump compared to the 271lbs the 2016 WR450 weighs wet. Plus I love the WR's for some reason. Only thing that would make me want a 690 is that I could actually ride it an hour to KC if I wanted to. Not sure I'd want to try that on a WR.

My CRF250L weighs about 320lbs wet and when it was sitting stock at 35" seat height it sucked if I went down haha

If you keep up with the maintenance, are KTM the kinda bike that will last for a good amount of time?

Yes. A friend of mine has a 525 with 20,000 miles and something like 1000 hours on it. He's done a couple rebuilds on it but he rides like a maniac.

Yeah, if you rebuild them a half a dozen times or so. Which is expensive.

I hope to get at least 40k out of this DRZ before its first rebuild

A top end on the 525 - just a piston kit ($120) + gaskets ($30) + have a shop run a hone through the cylinder $30 or buy the tool once ($115); $180 if you do it yourself and have a shop hone it. The cylinder replating is typically every other piston and that adds $245 to it which still isn't bad. The key with the 525 is to get the valves replaced with the hardened aftermarket ones.

But I'd buy one, check the valves, change the oil and ride it until something sounds funny then do a top end and get the valves done at the same time.

Boring huh? How many times has my motor been apart compared to yours?

Bruh. If my ridiculously reliable boring time is less stressful than your blow my shit up twice time, i'll take it happily.

I rode some dirt today and got to enjoy her even on a bald front tire.

I now need to figure out why its stumbling at 3/4 throttle. I think i may need to go down to the 155 jet...

Technically it's only happened once. I just don't want to put a stock piston back in after having the fun of the big bore :D

I have a grom to enjoy for now anyways. Once I get back in town I'll have it rebuilt and put back together to enjoy some more.

At that point I'll likely be shopping for a new bike, ha.
