If there was a Triumph dealer near me for service issues, I'd be all over one. Learned my lesson on buying a vehicle with no support.

Was just going through my old motorcycles posts and figured I would give you an update, that bike sold for 15,500$ less than a week after listing it and had two people that wanted it and a few more that were offering 12-14k$. The guy that bought it was owner of ASE sales who deals with some pretty serious Porsches.

So hard to judge value on classics in good condition.

The bonneville is 5 spd and has a fake carb. I wasn't impressed. But also didn't ride a sweet cafe build.

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
    Soon...

I haven't had a chance to read back a few pages yet. Last post I read was on page 358. I'm assuming ya'll are talking about the new street legal Honda 450? What's the deal on it? I know it's expensive, but I'm unclear how street price will compare to this '17 WR450 I'm about to sumo. If it's within a G of an EXC, don't see it stealing much market from KTM.

They are touting it as a 450r but I'm curious to know the cam and valve differences, not to mention exhaust and ecu.

Target MSRP (whatever that means) listed on Honda's website for the 450l is $10,400. KTM 500 EXC-F is $11k, 450 EXC-F is $10,400, and the 690 Enduro R is $10,900.

Maint schedule on the 450 and 500 is short compared to the 690. Probably similar to the WR450. Unless the CRF has the same maint schedule as the 690 and lower weight of the other KTMs, I don't know why anybody would buy it other than brand loyalty.

Agree on everything but I don't rely on manufacturers to tell me what my maintenance schedule is. the 450s and 500s don't need valves or even oil near as much as the manual thinks. if they are sumos. i regret checking valves on most of my sportbikes at manufacturers recommendations because they were fine. id at least triple or quintuple the hours in the chart for a street bike. even if youre like me and think youre a badass. you dont put anywhere near anything like a mx race schedule

i prefer DNA wheels but i also get a hook up. thought about buying a set for my 690 but decided to just get better tires.
i think its the latter, lol

agreed. i have multiple friends with 500s with tons of hours/miles in supermoto trim. great bikes really. i thought about one but really wanted the 690 for more long distance road riding

Triple clamps, exhaust, seat cover, graphics, fat bars...if you buy that stuff for your stock bike you will spend a ton. Don't ask how I know this. It may be really expensive, but KTM has people lined up to buy their works edition every year. Honda just jumped on that bandwagon. That exhaust alone on the new WE is incredibly expensive.

For sure. No arguments here. I'm just saying on 450s most riders really don't need any of that stuff. Just seems like it's mostly vet riders who are out there buying the blinged out Factory Edition bikes (like the KTM) so you can win in the pits (talking about the cool stuff on your bike). Nothing wrong with that, we all do it, to some degree. But I'm not sure it is really helping grow the sport. I'd rather ppl be lining up to buy cheaper bikes. Might be more people interested in racing etc. I think it is cool that Honda did it, but I think it would be more useful if they released a 2stroke (which they never will) or a 350.

I certainly cant afford the new bikes. Found this on craigslist for a good price and then upgraded the parts I wanted. I now have a great looking and mechanically sound 9 year old bike that I love.

Yes, its a 450. Yep it has lots of stickers, yup....if I was still racing I would most definitely be in the vet class. This is my first 4 stroke after 30 years of 2 strokes from every brand you can mention. Now I just ride happily in the desert and dream about those $11,000 dirt bikes. Paid cash. No payments. SMILES every time I ride it.
