I test rode a Fat Bob 114. Doesnt have the Sportster feel. Also had a hard time finding neutral.

So I turned them down, even though i can get my full sale price back as a trade in towards a different bike

Tank lift doesn't negatively affect the miles per tank. Its a 2 gallon tank regardless

Actually found out that I hate hanging while sleeping.. which is why a rtt is better for me. If I cant find any trees, I'll just sleep on the ground. Maybe make a bed of pine needles

thought you were getting better mileage without the lift? as in more usable fuel.

i get 150 per tank so fuck ever having to fill up that often.

I would like a bigger bike than my Indian Scouts, but not touring size. Indian is lacking in the midsize bikes. I'm not sure how the fat rear tire is going to handle, but it will be on my normal road that includes a few tight curves and one really steep hill, so I'll get a good comparison.

Figured I really had nothing else to do today, so I went back to ride. I rode the FXDR, softail slim, and fat bob. The fat bob was a definite no go. Just didn't feel good from the start. Not sure why. The softail slim handled a lot like my current Indian, so I liked it. The FXDR was surprisingly nice. I could see riding to work on that everyday. Just needs a small fly screen to deflect some of the wind.

I also rode a softail slim. Hated it in the parking lot.

I kind of want to try a Softail Deluxe. But only to build it like this:

But impractical for how I ride. It would definitely be just for looks

It has a 240 rear. I've owned cars with smaller tires

Went back and rode a few more bikes this morning. Someone else's gas, why not.
Sometimes you get on one and it just fits. That was the softail deluxe. I could tell before I got out of the parking lot it was the one. Everything was just where is should be and it handled the curves with the least input of all the ones I rode.
I'm not in the market for a new bike right now, but in a year or two I'll certainly be giving the deluxe another ride.

The new softail clutch cables are stupid. It takes a bit of adjustment to get them right. Mine had that issue when I first got it.

Never take the bike to Auto Zone. Those greasy parking lots are a death trap. :bananadead:
