    help me spend some money
just picked up a new cbr and the first thing I need is a set of rear spools

    womet-tech
    shogun
    vortex
    r&g
    puig

any suggestions, they all seem to be on par as far as quality and they all clearly serve the same purpose, tough picking a brand when they are all seemingly the same

Depends on what year hers is. If it's a 2009-2013 model seat, then yes, this seat is better. If it's more of a recent Iron, H-D's stepped their game up a little bit when it comes to OEM seating. It's a pretty minimal seat, I've ridden w/ mine for a few hr trips and been fine, but it's not built for distance, that's for sure. The leather grips the pants better than the stock material though for sure, keeps you in the seat more when getting on it.

I've used Womet-tech on previous bikes, Yamaha R6 and CBR1000RR. Had a set of R&G on a Grom and they didn't feel as quality. Just my experience.

Need to consider if you want to drill out the fairings or not as well. I think Womet-tech only offers that option as it's considered stronger, since it's not on an extended arm / going around fairings and into the frame like some other brands do.

Hers is a 14. She’s just looking for something a little more comfy. I know different rear shocks would make more of a difference, it a seat is a whole lot cheaper.

Here's a few shots of "life behind bars" in Alaska, from the 4th of July weekend.

Nice 19. Kinda like the minimalized cluster over the older one.

How long are summers there out of curiousity?

For swingarm spools I prefer whichever ones are smallest/lowest profile. A hard enough impact can snap the mounting tab right off so I don’t think the slider style add much protection.

Fantastic this is exactly the type of comparison I was looking for! I do like the stuff out of TST Industries and womet tech, r&g ruled out for spools
as far as sliders, I don't want to drill into these crispy new things yet but it will more than likely be the way I go, rather go stronger and cut holes myself over a weaker mount and end up with a cracked plastic anyway... thank you again for the reply!
thank you! I had not consider the possibility of the bosses snapping with a spool slider combo but that is a very good point. I will most likely add an axle slider for protection in due time.

It varies depending on how far north you are (Alaska is huge).

In Fairbanks (furthest most "normal" city in Alaska), the snow melts around mid-April in the city and you'll have snow again in October. We'll keep snow in the mountains (like where this ride was) that make it impassable into May/June, and some areas will retain some snow year round.

The biggest thing is the daylight/darkness. In the summer we have near endless daylight - it will be normal daylight for 21 hours of the day at its peak. We experience the inverse in the winter, with a lot of prolonged periods of darkness.

That doesnt sound bound. Definitely looks cool as fuck to explore. In the truck or bike.

A bit more snow longer than id like but i guess if you live near mountains you can make it up with snowboarding or something

Im still loving my 600rr, BUT does anyone have exp on a 2019 ducati hypermotard the new 950 has me wanting and drooling over owning both bikes and enjoying more riding styles. I have always been sport bikes but that one looks like a blast and is comfortable too for me. Just cant do a cruiser until my back is wimpy and weak.

Definitely enjoy all the different riding styles you can. I came from a sport bike and road racing background and swore I’d never own a cruiser until I got “old” I ended up buying Harley because my wife didn’t like riding on the back (Now she has her own bike, the little Harley in the pics) of the sport bike and I’ll say this. It doesn’t accelerate, stop or handle for shit, but is the most comfortable bike I have ever owned. Plus you can ride 400-500 miles in a day and not be crippled from having your knees tucked the whole time. Lol I pretty much have a street bike for every occasion or mood I’m in. In fact I’ve been kind of eyeing that Duc myself, it looks like a really fun bike. Sliders are not meant to keep the plastic from being destroyed, they are meant to keep the engine and frame from being damaged beyond repair, you DO NOT want long ones or super strong ones as they will allow the bike to cartwheel if they catch anything. Look at HRC first, they have been designed to take the initial hit and then break away if needed so the bike slides instead of tumbles.

You might want to check out some racing vids of what frame sliders have done. I have YEC ones on my R1 only to keep the tank and hopefully the clutch cover from being crushed if it ever comes to that...

Nice collection I’m 28 and very fit so I can ride a sport bike 500 miles and not be totally
Miserable but that hypermotard just has me interested in the hooligan and around town riding fun. But my
Local dealer in Spokane Washington gets one hypermotard every 6 months lol. They let you test ride it after you
    Buy it too.

Damn punk kids! I’m 47 and I still ride BMX and skateboard, but after years of playing hockey my knees aren’t what they used to be. Lol
Yeah that’s how it was with the Speed Triple when I bought it. You can test ride all you want once you pay for it. Lol
