I know your committed at this point, but the used market is a buyers market right now big time for Harley and has been so for the last 24 months. Prices continue to fall and you can pick up a 16-20 Street Bob with virtually no miles for less than 10k. Those used bikes will also have upgraded seats, exhaust, air cleaner for no difference in price. The only thing worth more than 10k is the Lowrider S. You would actually get a better bike than brand new for $5k off.

Personally I wanted a Carb bike and it is crazy how the 20 year old FXDX is still better than half the fleet (timken bearing, dual front rotor, 13" rear shock, forged crank). Picked up mine for $5k.

For whatever reason (it is Harley after all), they are completely insane on service prices. Doing everything yourself you are actually better of these days because they use SYN3 in all three holes and for that price you can afford better alternatives that are made for the specific application. Why you would put 20W-50 in the transmission for $13 is beyond me. Only time I would use them is in your situation with a fuel injected bike if the dealer had a Dyno, they usually are fairly cheap on tunes

I hear about those deals all the time but in SoCal, used bikes in good condition are only about $1-2k less than a new bike so it just doesn't make sense to buy used unless you're looking for something specific. Being a tinkerer, I always question the previous owner's work and what is considered acceptable. In addition, I'll most likely overhaul anything I get since I've yet to find any vehicle that's good enough to leave alone.

Not saying you're wrong, just saying the market out here is very different that other parts of the country especially since we have "riding weather" year-round.

Idk man. A 16/17 Dyna maybe. But it’ll be hard to find a 18+ M8 FXBB for less than $12k. That extra $3k gives some peice of mind with a warranty. And knowing you’re the only one who has farted in the saddle.

The used market is definitely not that cheap out here in southern California. Used bikes run maybe 2-3k cheaper at MOST. Realistically it’s like 1k cheaper. Which is why I made the decision to buy new. For a couple grand more why not get a brand new bike.

This. Exactly this. Even a 16/17 dyna I couldn’t find for under 10k. And the cheapest one I found had like 50k miles

Asking price, definitely. Arizona and CA there are huge pools that save to shop in, I actually seen fxdx and fxrs cheap all the time because most of the good running bikes are all in Cali or TX. There are guys on YouTube making deals day in day out in CA and AZ.

Crazy market out there is dirt bikes. People that race out there are insane. They will run a bike for 6 months and then sell it because the sticker changes for a 75% loss. I can’t wait to move near Tahoe to get a cheaper KTM, throw in a new top end and be good to go

Asking price is not selling. Coworker had a Dyna lowrider s shipped from Vegas for 12K freight was 400 (probably close enough you to drive). If anyone else is looking I’m subscribed to a bunch of buy sell pages and see deals across country everyday, just drop what your looking for and we’ll keep an eye out.

Fxbb is not a Dyna though. I know Dyna Bros are pretty loyal to that species- but they’ll come around- I LOVE my softail street bob. And if I get the urge to feel sketchy again, I’ll jump on the GF’s Sportster. This forum is a good example. It was 90% “Turd Gen!” And “3rd gens Suck!” 4 years ago. I bet at least half those guys now have 3rd gen tacos.

Oh my bad, didn’t realize he was talking about a brand new M8 which does significantly change things you are right. The M8 has not been out long enough to get a significant discount yet. I was talking about 16/17 years max you are 100% right

And yeah it depends what for, I love my Dyna but it’s for wheelies and getting sketchy on purpose. No question for day to day purposes and general use the new Soft tails are superior in every category. Dyna bros will come around because they will have to, unless they are mechanics it’s a pain in the ass keeping my 20 year old bike running and I couldn’t imagine paying a dealer what it would cost. All for a bike that arguably performs worst in several categories people actually care about like comfort

but honestly who are we kidding- We love Harley Davidsons. We overpay for these damn things even if we are getting a “deal”.
I just bought a beautiful 1969 CJ5. Basically was the price of a used Sportster. We are definitely suckers when it comes to motorcycles.

To be honest even 5k is really more than my Dyna is worth if you judge it on what you are actually getting. I also have a WR450f supermoto that was 3.5k and an F4i which was 2.7k and both are better bikes than even the new Harleys which are still air cooled for God’s sake. I will fully admit it makes no sense but I am glad I finally stopped talking shit and bought a Harley. There is just something emotional about them which makes it fun.

I actually like that one. My biggest gripe with any HD clothing is the complete plastering of the HD logos or insignia all over everything. Looking like a Nascar sponsor jacket or Joey's Ferrari ensemble.
That one looks casual enough to wear around without looking like a douche.

If any Tacomabros wants a deal on an Oxblood Roland Sands Clash jacket- size Large, let me know. I got it at the RSD sample sale last year $150 (retail is $700- this is a sample though) Has armor.
I bought 2 thinking I could easily flip one...... and it has not been easy. Oxblood doesnt seem to be most people’s cup of tea- but I like it.
