I was out on Sunday and had a motorist come into my lane and force me into oncoming traffic.

It was a residential/commercial area, speed limit 35. I was in the left lane and saw in my peripheral vision that a car was approaching in the lane to my right, and then I suddenly realized that it was getting closer and closer.
The guy was merging over as if I was invisible (and indeed, he probably didn’t see me). He was going much faster, so by the time I swerved to the left so I wouldn’t get hit, my front tire was next to his rear driver side door.

Luckily nobody was coming in the oncoming lane so I braked and got back into the correct lane behind him. I honked and got no response. It was a beat up old dirty Chrysler of some kind.

I pulled off on the next side street so I could park and wait for my adrenaline and heart rate to normalize. Scary shit.
I keep replaying it in my head, and wonder why I didn’t just do emergency braking first instead of swerving?

I wish I had video of it so I could review... you know how unreliable the human memory can be during tense situations.

Yeah, I think the statistics are skewed because of where I ride and how often.
I’ve put nearly 2,000 miles on it since March and 95% of that is city riding with intersections.
That’s high-risk all day long, but I knew that going into it from what I learned in the MSF course.

I need to find me some rural twisty roads away from the city.

I really only ride along PCH. Have taken a few rides with friends in my 1k miles and have only encountered 1 somewhat close call. Your area must just be especially bad. At least you’re out there being safe

Nice you're racking up the miles. Definitely head away from the city, twisty country backroads are a lot more fun to ride and usually less traffic to contend with.

More mirror checks, dont let anyone stay next to you.
You are not invisible, they see you and are trying to hit you, act accordingly.

I've never ridden a bike with forward controls, only mid or rear, is it normal to have the shift lever up that high? Seems like you'd have to way lift your foot off the peg to downshift.

Just cosmetic stuff. TST integrated rear light, removed the plate arm, TST front signals.
I may get the ECU flashed to smooth out the awful Yamaha ride by wire throttle system.

    Some really cool shit
I test rode the one with your color scheme. Couldn't do it. Went all black. Didn't want the added attention that flashy day glo would bring. Did cosmetic mods, as well. Givi windscreen. SW- Mototech skids here and there. grip guards. tank bag. That kinda shit.

Those actually aren’t forward controls. They’re mid but admittedly on that model, Harley moved them an inch forward of your standard mid controls. And yes that shifter is in the correct position. With mids or forwards you tend to ride heel-down so the shifter is in a more comfortable position where it sits.

These aren’t forwards. But I guess they’re also not true mids. I think they’re called like “slightly forward mids” or something. It’s just natural for me now though since the only ever bikes I’ve ridden were dirt bikes. So I’m not really sure how much different it is down shifting. I dont really pay attention, but I think I maybe lift the front of my foot a little to down shift? I dunno. Like I said it’s just second nature now and i don’t really notice what I do

Midishforwards, I like it. I was just curious, it looked real high in that angle without thinking much about it. Makes sense if you're anchoring on your heel and have your foot tilted up a bit.

My calfs and achiles tendons have always been super tight and I can't angle my foot very high, so I'm always dropping shift levers down a spline or two or lifting to hit the downshift.

It was not a fake Alpinestars jacket

They’re super comfortable for me. I’ve been debating putting on forwards but I think I’m just gonna get another @GHOST SHIP custom and have him build me a crash bar/highway foot rest bar up front. I like the handling of the bike with where they’re at as I tend to be a little on the aggressive side of riding/driving
