I usually do 20 seconds of full choke and then about 90 seconds of half choke then i'm ready to go

The KTM always started 2nd turn on e-start with the choke which is kind of nice since the battery is quite small and a few years old. Mine's also really easy to kickstart even when cold if the choke is on.

Yep. 70 mpg, but if it's less than 70 degrees you'd better be ready to choke that bitch at startup.

I found iridium plugs tend to make starting a bike easier when cold. Not always but for my the KTM's I've had it's been true.

The ninjettes will start just fine cold.
The problem is you can't open the throttle or take it off choke for a few minutes. Even mid summer they take a minute or two to come off choke.
Every single one I've been around has been like this.
I just figure it as a characteristic of the model.

Talking about the 250s. I don't know if the newer 300s are like this or not.

Pretty sure all the 300s are fuel injected now

Exactly. Mine starts fine, fires right up. But if you shut the choke off it'll stall. If you crack the throttle, it'll stall. Runs great once it's warmed up, but before then? You ain't goin' nowhere.

On another note, it's been raining on and off here all week, and TDOT decides, on this week, where rain is forecasted all week, when no one is riding, to put "look twice/share the road with motorcycles" on the electronic highway message signs.
