Just got my new droid last week. I must admit, it is bad ass. Everything I wanted, expected, and then some. I love it how all my buddies with their IPhones are envious of the speed and all the different apps. The apps will only improve with time too.

I just got back from the Verizon store and that is an awesome phone. It accesses the internet almost instantaneously and the touch screen works well.

It also holds 16gb of music or videos and the syncing software is available on Verizon's website (or you can use Rhapsody).

The only thing I can't get over is spending an extra $30/month for the internet capabilities. I already pay $10/month for unlimited text messaging and that wouldn't change.

I hear you on the $30 extra a month, but Its $30 extra a month anywhere else too, so you pretty much have your hands tied. Once you have internet capabilities from your phone, you will most likely find your self being much more productive with your time and efficiently handling tasks that would have otherwise required you to stop and go grab a computer. I find this especially helpful for business. The Google voice app for the droid is also amazing. When dialing out, you can set the phone to prompt you to either make the call using your Google voice number or your actually cell number. simply pick which you would like to use and place the call. Another awesome thing about the droid is how it is adobe flash capable. This makes browsing websites just that much more seemless of a transision from your desktop/laptop to the phone. Not to mention, prior to this, some websites were pretty much rendered useless on a phone.

ah, i did not know that. isn't there another phone that started running 2.0 right after the droid was released? or are they PLANNING on making 2.0 available for other android phones, they just haven't done it yet?

the extra $30 sucks but at the same time, you pay for internet at home, gotta pay for it on the move too. but its worth it when you actually need it. and its better than teh iphone plan that charges you for internet then charges AGAIN just for the iphone plan. i was gonna get an iphone till i found out how high the monthly bill is

I have had a loved my iphone for about 14 months now. AT&T in my area sucks... damn phones are only as good as how close you are to a cell tower.
I'm bailing and paying the fee of $125 cancellation cause AT&T cost me big time with dropped calls and loss of business.
I should have the droid by weeks end... jumping on a family plan will only cost me 9.99 plus the 30$$ data fee.
Anyway verzion I know has drop zones, but borrowed a buddies and seems to work well everywhere I took it for the couple days
Good bye Apple... love ya, but be versatile and sell your phone to all the providers and I may come back!
Droid report to follow when I actually have it

I gave Android's preferred model a try, but I just couldn't get comfortable having all those apps running in the background. I quite fighting and installed Advanced Task Killer and my virginity has been restored! Rep.

The focus issue seems to have been pushed through automatically.

Seems its not a fix but a bug that runs on a date cycle. very strange indeed. i guess it runs in 24.5 day cycles. try setting your date back to 11/11 and see if it goes bad again.

holy shit tahts weird. i didn't go through the trouble of changing my date, but i read the update. that makes absolutely no sense at all. wouldn't you have to program something to do that?

I should be picking the droid up this weekend... anyone have regrets or is this a thumbs up. I know they have rumors of a google phone, but I would lay odds that the week the google phone comes out... something better will be right around the corner

have the droid and i love it. but before i picked it up i was doing some online looking around and found sound articles that stated apple "may" be releasing what they call the apple tablet first quarter or 2010 for verizon. the only complaint i have is the dam privacy screen protector i have on there. its so thick you kinda have to really push to make it work. wish they had a way to adjust the screen sensitivity. i went to the support website and they said that adjusting it is not available yet meaning that hopefully theyll come out with that soon. other than that i love this thing

Do you need a screen protector? I've had an iphone loose in my pocket for 14 months with keys & coins and yes the case scratched... but the glass was never touched... I googled driod / glass scratch and found this

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eh2g7AIHdc8

Anybody think this is a hoax or is the droid glass like the iphone... pretty durable?

I got the droid two days ago amd couldn't be happoer with it, I find it much easier to use then the iphone too. My only complaint so far is the battery life, which will hopefully last longer once I stop playing with it constantly

i was worried with the short battery life as well. heres my suggestion..which im sure you already know..use the phone and run the battery either all the way down or until its just about out and charge it all the way back until its complete. worked for me. also try this app killer its free and it shows what apps are still running in the background and allows you to select and shut down which ones you do not running thusly saving more battery life

The first few days I had mine i played with it non stop and of course the battery life is going to suffer. after I started using it normally the battery life has been just fine.
