GDE Homescreen, is that the app name? I can't seem to find that exact app. I found another but the users complain of FC and slowing of droid.

none except for crappy hub caps and floor mats.
I'm seriously considering it because of the open source nature of it. That and the free apps. The bad thing is that I just got a new phone 6 months ago. It is through Verizon though so I guess I could just buy the phone outright.

I would recommend it to anyone, but if i remember correctly, the sales man told me something in the range of $500 to purchase the phone outright. I'm pretty sure the $100 rebate I received could be applied towards that, although it could have possibly be linked to my contract renewal..

I get some FCs mostly when docking/undocking with the multimedia dock. I havn't noticed any problems with the speed. But, the FCs are a minor inconvenience since it reloads GDE automatically.

Toyota all weather floor mats. Mag light that clunks around in the jack compartment. Dog hair. Dog drool on the windows.
Cool.. Verizons website is being stupid. wont let me check it out. Only problem i see is the lack of a power cord. the GPS will knock the battery down kick on trips. And i am wondering if the silicon skin i have will fit in that holder.

I looked at the eris today. I asked the lady if it had a GPS chipset in it. she said "No". I then used the phone to google the specs, And showed her it had a qaulcom GPS chipset. And then showed/ asked her why would the phone have an option to turn of satellite reception..

I'm probably gonna keep the droid. Why take a step back.

Definitely wont fit in the dock with the silicone case. For the lack of the power cord you really only need it when navigating. The phone still goes to sleep in the dock unless you are actively navigating. I have a car charger and only plug it in when I really need it. But, I'm thinking about modifying a multimedia dock to use as a mobile dock because it has the built in power cord.

So I read a few pages of this thread but not all. Simple question though, can you put your own homemade ringtones on it or do you have to purchase them all?

Yes you can. there are even a couple apps that allow you to crop your MP3s to make better ringtones out of them.
