Hi, I have a 2021 TRD Off Road with 6ft bed. I'm making my own drawer system and will need to mount it to a base plate in the bed (1/2 plywood). I made a cardboard template of the bed and am ready to trace/cut the plywood.

There are six mondo bolts that attach the bed to the frame and I'd like to know if I can get similar ones that are say, 3/4 inch longer? That way I can put the bolt through my base plate and the bed - no drilling required! Anyone know where to find parts like that?

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
I would start at mcmaster.com. BUT, the longest metric bolt in SS seems to be about 60mm (2.36"). I'd go with threaded rod and fix a low profile nut on the end with Loctite studlock or its equivalent. I'm not sure of the bolt size & thread pitch so you'd have to pin that down.

Understood. A friend also suggested Mcmaster.com as a source. I'm hoping I can get the specific Toyota part number and then look up thread pitch and bolt diameter from there. Threaded rod might work but simply having a slightly longer bolt would be ideal. Might go with a nylon sleeved bolt or Loctite as you suggest. Many thanks for the ideas.

Sadly I've found the Toyota parts diagrams lacking compared to realoem for BMWs as far as fastener specs go. With realoem I'd usually at least be able to get the diameter and length and would have to guess / assume if the thread pitch was fine or coarse.

Anyways, the bed bolt part number is 64189-0C011 and has a Torx T55 head.

Also FWIW the smaller T40 bolt that holds the D-rings on the floor that many of the bed side stiffeners replace is not metric, it's 7/16".

Thank you very kindly. For future reference, can I ask how you found the part #? Some folks favor mcmaster.com but I'd be happy to have additional sources as well. D-ring info was a welcome bonus. :)

Most of the parts diagrams online suck, I have access to a nicer one but it isn't publicly accessible.

If you go to the end they have the length and thread pitch of the 7/16" bolt they supply for the D-ring fastener:
    Bolt, 7/16"‐20 x 1.25" Grade 8

Dang, they only describe the 64189-0C011 as "T-55 bolt" because it doesn't have to be replaced, just reinstalled. I'm still hunting but thanks for the additional scoop.

I think your best bet is to remove one of the bolts and take it to a local bolt supply company and tell them you want the closest thing they have to it but 3/4" longer.

Agreed. I can bring it to a hardware store and find a nut that fits properly. At that point I'll have all of the specs I need to pursue closest match with a bolt supply house online. It's unlikely that a hardware store would have a bolt of the right hardness grade. Thanks again for your help.

    Never ending......$$$
Im in the process of making a base plate for my 2017 5ft bed. Im going to use 12mm baltic birch. My plan is to use the 6 bes bolts to mount the base. I want to counter sink the bolts if possible so the base is flat. When i took my bed bolts out of my 2ng gen they were super long. Im assuming the 3rd gen uses the same bolts. They seem that they would be plently long to hold the base in place and still support the bed.

I have a spare bed bolt that i got from toyota parts department. Ill measure to see how long it is.

stock bed bolts are pretty long, pull one out and see how much longer you need them to actually be.

Ever find a bolt that was 3/4” longer? Looking to mount a base plate as well.

    Update:

I put a lot of effort into trying to find a specialty bolt supply house that either stocked or would make a custom bolt but seemed to get nowhere and gave up. My son is a lot better with mechanical stuff so, I'm going to team up with him on finding another approach to securing a baseplate to the bed. I also hope to have a look at how AT Overland does it when I have my Habitat installed at the factory (Phoenix, AZ) in June 2021.

I spent most of the winter building four cabinets and 12 drawers:

    https://photos.app.goo.gl/zP5388a436wNrbxG6

My cabinets are not pretty but they are solid and rugged. One holds an ice chest with nested drawers underneath for stove and cutting board.

I made a cardboard template and will cut out the baseplate from a single sheet of 1/2" plywood. The big unknown will be whether the cabinets have to be placed more toward the center of the bed if they are tall enough to intersect the sides of the Habitat base.

I welcome any tips, advice, and or stories about setting your Tacoma up with an AT Habitat too.

Yeah I took a look today at mine. I think there's like 2" of play. I'll probably just use the back 4 bed bolts to mount my base plate.

Now I need to figure out a way to mark the under side of the base plate so I can drill the holes

Go for it and let me how it turns out.

To mark the holes put something slightly sticky on the heads of the bed bolts. A dab of caulk, lipstick, paint would do. Carefully lay the plate onto the bed so as not to smear the sticky stuff. Likewise, lift the plate up carefully and ta dah! Your drill locations are accurately marked.
