I normally carry 1-3 bikes at a time and I’m pretty happy with my Thule bike pad. Basically allows me to just throw my bikes over it and go. Mine can hold up to 6 bikes comfortably if there all roadies.

What are y’alls impression on something like this? I’m looking for a fork mount for my roof rack with something to hold the rear in place.

    FYI:
I finally got my Inno bike straps in that work with my bed rail system. Works great and even though they come in pairs all it takes is one to hold up a hybrid or MTB. Quick and painless off and on. I do still love my Thule pad for hauling more than two bikes though!

It’s cool as long as your ok with removing the front tire. I know for me it’s all about convince. Definitely a pretty sturdy rack.

Do you have the accessory rail at the front of the bed? I went with a DIY solution. I can slide these left/right as needed for other loads, or remove them altogether. Sure, it's an extra step to remove the front wheels, but that's gonna be something you have to do with a few other solutions as well... PM me if you want a parts list...

I ordered it anyway to give it a shot. I use a tailgate pad for the most part. Just needed an option for camping or whatever when the bed is full of junk.

Just peace of mind - they aren't really necessary. Once you tighten the axle to the fork mount, the bikes are one there pretty solid - it's a "just in case" thing for rough trail rides. Old age and paranoia make me wanna have back-ups for everything.

Too funny, I thought I was the only one with old age pannonia about strapping down my gear... :)

Finished my mount today - low tech using mini stiffners, 2x4 and Kuat Dirtbag mount.

Bonus: For those concerned about bed mat theft, 2x4 wedges mat to the bed.
Still could be cut out with a utility knife but a deterrent none the less.
