Do you do any thing to secure the back wheel? Or is the strap around the downtube enough to keep the bike secure from moving around?

This is the best bike rack I've ever used: ULTIMATE TRUCK BIKE RACK | United States | RIDE88

Second best is taking the front wheel off and bolting the fork to a standard fork mount clamp on the front rail. I can close my tailgate on my bike like this, with 27.5 x 3" tires.

Third best, but easiest, is just to throw it over the tailgate. The Ride88 is really secure and can be quickly removed from the bed if I want full bed space.

I gave up on roof rack/roof/trailer hitch racks in the mountains, with limbs and trees. If I lived in Big Sky country it might be different.

Just the strap keeps it plenty secure with normal driving. If you're bouncing off road to get to your destination then maybe it wouldn't be the most secure-- but I've had no issues with the bike moving when I'm traveling to trailheads.

Can you use the Ride88 with the OEM tonneau cover? Looks like you can but the tail gate may need to be down.

I have a Bak Flip Mx4 and tried a bunch of different options before settling on just getting a hitch mounted rack. I bought a Thule Helium Platform... Super pricey, but I love it. I used to just use my factory bed mat as a tailgate pad, but ended up scuffing the frame on my Carbon Tallboy, so that was the straw that broke the camels back.

Could you post a pic, with a side view showing where the Inno is attached to your bikes?

    TIA

I’ll try to get one for your tomorrow. Shoot me a message during the day and I’ll throw a bike in there to snap a picture.

^^ interesting product, never seen that before. I like that it keeps it upright with wheel on but I wouldn't want something clamping onto my carbon frame. Paint on by bike wears off way too easy for that...

It’s a super supportive grip. You could always put a piece of rubber tubing in there or something to help protect it. Honestly though, the paint is gonna get messed up eventually so I’d rather have the convenience of not having to remove a tire and whatnot.

I followed the Amazon link... they look different than yours pictured. How did you get them in the deck rail system?

I've never seen this before, that's pretty cool if you have no tonneau or the right type of tonneau.

Just spun then sideways instead of putting them on the top of the rail.

Anyone have thier tailgate pad stolen while riding?

I know some pads have a metal grommet you can put a bikelock/chain on. For those that have a pad with no security on them, what do you use?

I was thinking of putting on a 2 inch grommet to put some kind of lock on when I'm out riding.

Knock on tailgate I've not had this happen. Parking lots are full of them, I just hope mine wouldn't be the one picked if someone wanted to steal one. I only use my pad while riding though, and take it off otherwise.

I would hope at a mtb trail nobody would even think about stealing a tailgate pad. But I parked at a city lake with a good amount of foot traffic and went for a 30 mile ride. I was semi expecting it to be gone. Haha. It was my first using the tailgate pad and I didn't even think about it til I biked away.
