You could use your knee pads to get a promotion at work. Then you could afford to waste your extra money on a mountain hatch.

Here is my thread on the subject. If you can afford it, it’s super nice. No regrets.

It’s a big difference when you have a canopy and want to access stuff. That’s the main driver for me. My knees are not in great shape from a lifetime in trades.

Yeah for sure. For me, old habits die hard and I tend to kneel on the tailgate. The ribs are not kind to the kneecaps. I could probably retrain my brain, but after 30 years of working out of a pickup it’s kinda hard.

For me this was an affordable solution. If anyone’s family is going to go without because they blew their paycheque on a Mountain Hatch, I don’t recommend it. For those with some money kicking around, there certainly are less functional mods you might do.

Yep. This plus no competition + Overland points and influencer codes, "MUSA", et al... thriving business. I feel like I should fire up the ShopBot and start selling my own ABS PrairiePortal (TM) for $100 shipped. And I would still make money. And have 4 "cupholders".

Yeah, like 33”s and a plate bumper after you’ve ceramic-coated your pavement princess.

Some fashion choices get looked past. Other fashion choices get criticized.
    That’s TW.

I picked one up earlier this week. I mean it's only $200, so if it's a waste, it's only $200 and if I love it, it was only $200. I love the idea of not having the ridges, not only for my knees but also there's been many times I've used my tailgate as a table and trying to make a sandwich, cook anything, etc and the ribs are always in the way. I don't plan to cut directly on it.

I honestly didn't plan on using it as a cutting board, but I have now processed two elk, an antelope, and countless fish on it, really just because it was there.

I ordered mine during the sale and should be delivered tomorrow.. I appreciate the info regarding the longer screws! Might have to swing by the Depot and get some. As for people pointing out that it costs so much, so be it - if there are people willing to spend the $ on it, then that is their prerogative. I happen to like the idea of a softer material than the aluminum or steel, and will appreciate the flat surface when I am camping. My son enjoys eating lunch on "daddy's truck" (who is 2 1/2 years old by the way..) and the ridges are annoying. I cook on the tailgate (camping), and use it to work off of. For me, I think I am going to really like it once it is here and installed. Now, if I get it and am disapointed, then shame on me I guess.. And I'll be the first one to come back to this thread and say it lol.

Goddam. Where do we even start? How about ceramic paint coat? BHLM? Leather seat covers? Fuel for big tires you don’t need? Prinsu rack with an empty Pelican case bolted to it? Moldy rooftop tent you never sleep in? TRD CAI? 10 ply tires?

Pretty much 75% of the mods on this website are more cosmetic and less functional than a Mountain Hatch.

I am glad I have some cash to throw around on ridiculous stuff like Mountain Hatch. It’s a mod that brings me priceless happiness.

Looooooove It!!!!!!!! Best mod ever!!! Woot.

I bought it, I don’t use it as a cutting board, really no dual purpose for me. No need to justify it or look for approval either, you either like it or don’t but either way nobody put skin in the game but me

why is it you care so much about other people’s money or truck and how they use it? Stating your opinion is one thing but beating a dead horse
