Ha, I actually toured VMI on my way down to Tech. Took me about 15 mins to be like "nah, F that." At least we had girls and NCAA football.

I saw a guy earlier with Old Glory flying from a 4' pole mounted to the handlebar of his bicycle.

Being an old Boy Scout, and taught how to care for and display the flag. It makes me sick to see how the flag gets treated today. Displaying a giant flag improperly doesn’t make you a good citizen.

Understand your thoughts (Eagle scout in 1977) now, I will say it gives one a good first impression of where one stands.

I think of my father and what he would think of flags on the back of vehicles. He was a WW2 veteran, didn’t like what he saw in the 60s’ and 70s’, probably wouldn’t approve of what we see today.

I have mixed feelings. I’ll give credit that their heart is probably in the right place. It’s the execution that can sometimes be better. I’ll admit to a small 2A flag in dark grey on my sliding window. Technically, a distortion of the US flag.

Great Grandfather and Grandfather both WWII vets, couple uncles are Vietnam Vets, all from Southwestern PA and West Virginia heart of steel and coal country, where foreign made vehicles would be dragged out of the steel mill parking lots. Find it odd flying a US flag on a Japanese vehicle that was built in Mexico.

Shiiiiit….I was about disowned by my good ol’ boy father for buying a Toyota. “Git that Jap Crap outta here boy!”

I have subdued decals in appropriate spots.

But.. culture wars suck. 'One nation, United' gosh firken darn it.

Wasn't even born here. But I'll defend it. The United States of America isn't a place, it's an idea.

Teslas are the most American made vehicle. According to this.

    https://www.cars.com/american-made-index/

Don’t think I have ever seen a flag being flown on a Tesla. Don’t most ultra patriotic people hate EVs? Or at least it seems that way.

My point being, if you’re going to be patriotic, wouldn’t one buy the most American made vehicle to prove one’s patriotism? Isn’t that what flying a US flag is all about, showing everyone how patriotic you are?

Where I grew up the colors Red, White, and Blue run very deep. My father didn’t talk to me for a month because I bought a Toyota (that was 30+ years ago) and would give me shit about it every chance he got, for years! He was a dyed in wool Ford guy, and would just shake his head when I would pull up, said to me at least buy a Chevy or even a gawd awful Dodge instead of that “Jap Crap” Toyota garbage.

Dunno, so now it just seems odd seeing a Japanese vehicle that was built in Mexico, not to mention all the Chinese parts it contains, and the owner flying a US flag on it. My father and grandfathers are probably rolling in their graves.

Me I don’t care, as I already disappointed my father buying several Toyotas, however will never fly a US flag on my Tacoma, because it really doesn’t support the American worker, seems insincere and disrespectful. My next truck will most likely be a Ford, too bad my father isn’t alive to see that, hell… it might wake him from the dead!

What bothers me most about this thread is not the disrespect of the flag, which is sad. There are two other flags that seem to be having a comeback, and that is just wrong.

Which is also ironic on a Toyota. Crazy confused world we live in.

Fords are built in US? I thought they were built in Mexico and Canada, and have parts from around the world including China. My 2018;Tacoma was actually built in Texas. It's near impossible to buy everything American made. You can have a flag and love this country and drive any car.
Curious what your Ford is gonna be, a Raptor? They do look pretty Bad Ass

I drive a California made Civic and a Texas made Taco. I'd still fly Old Glory on foreign made versions, and my grandpa fought the Nazis on the ground in the Army Infantry. :oldglory:
